The Classic Doctor Who DVD Releases are always the clue to the new season...

They released a few dalek ones just before the new series. (Including The Beginning to coincide with the 2005 beginning)

The Invasion (best of the then unreleased Cybermen stories) just before the Cybermen appeared

The Master's comeback box (Keeper to Castrovalva) just before the Master showed up.

The Invasion of Time and Sontaran box set just before the Sontarans appeared.

Davros Box set just before Davros.

The rumours i heard, Steven Moffett is not Bringing back the Time Lords or the Older villains (Daleks, Cybermen Master etc), instead he might bring some new excitng villains that will beat the Dalek as the greatest villain in Doctor Who here are some rumours

There is a rumour that Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh is to appear as the antagonist in the Two parted final, the the antagonist is non other than himself, in Doctor Who, he is actually a near Human alien from the Plannet Mountbatten, Like the Doctor he is the Last of his species (His species are known as Philips, these near Human aliens look, act and sound just like Prince Philip, even the women). his Plan is to Become king of England, dominate the world, change everyone to Philips, turn Earth to New Mountbatten and create a Philip empire

There seems to be a tradition of completely wiping out a race in one episode, only to have them come back in force in another episode. Fortunately, they only do this with a few races.

Well, Star Trek has a long history of 'reboot' episodes... I thought Morbius lasted until the final Matrix movie...'cause some things never change...

It's a pity they haven't brought back the earth reptiles, though hopefully the Pertwee versions.

You're right about the Valeyard.... I guess the fact that Patrick Stewart has a bald head like a monk is a bit misleading.

The doctor's daughter was an entirely new thing. The Doctor does have a granddaughter and it's believed that the relative was Susan's (the Grandaughter)'s mother.

The thing is that Gallifreyans were sterile at the time of the Doctor's Birth - (weaving on the loom) and certainly during his daughter and grandaughter's "birth".

Since the actress who played the Doctor's daughter had a thing with David Tennant but broke up afterwards... she might have been a bit reluctant to return while David was still in the role. She may change her mind when the 11th doctor is installed.
