Anyone else watch this show? It's actually really good - the ads make it look cutsie and lame - but its very well-written.

There is no doubt in my mind that the main character, Shawn, is somewhere on the spectrum.
His ability to string together multiple obscure references and see what other miss - reminds me exactly of me.

But here's the part I love - he's not shy and he's not ashamed to be "weird". He even uses it to irritate and disarm people. Who doesn't do that?

So - anyone else like that? I don't relate to perpetually shy aspies. I'm actually quite "out there".

Fortunately, most of the people I surround myself with these days - get me - and I enjoy making them laugh. (Of course, ask me to speak seriously about my personal life and I'm a deer in the headlights)

I like psych. I don't think Shawn is AS - he just seems too comfortable in conversation.

But that doesn't mean others understand him or that he can necessarily control what he says or does. That's my point. I can yammer on and on in the right conditions and on my own terms.

My husband is very similar and we're like a stand up act around other people - but in normal human interaction situations we're basketcases. People LOVE to party with us - but if they only knew what we're really like.

We've also learned to use our "special powers" to make a living (and have fun doing it) - like Shawn.

Ah, the tears of a clown... :jocolor: :eew:

I'm a shy aspie, but I just love watching him. It's sort of connected for me... since I am so shy these days, it's just floors me to watch someone off-the-wall who is totally unashamed. It's rather freeing. The first episode, as it should have, set the pace for the rest. He told Gus about his plans and Gus stormed off as Shawn called after him, "It's gonna be fun!" Or something like that. Anyway, it's a fun show that so far has avoided a lot of the irritating traits of modern tv drama. It's kept it light. Of course, I missed the last season ender. I'll have to check it out online. But the one about the old summer camp was one of my favorites so far.

OMG! The summer camp one was excellent! Gus was so cute while they were playing strip poker. I wish I had a Gus in my work. Someone who understands me and can take care of me. Yin and yang.

I watched a really good episode yesterday, it was about Ryan the Liar. Shawn believed that he was telling the truth, even though what the guy was saying was very farfetched, Shawn ended up being right. I too like to watch shows that have people that I wish I was more like, if that makes any sense. Love this show! :D
