Some people say Isabelle did not have AS. Even my own aunt said she acted normal.

i have no idea, but what i do know is that Radha Mitchell is hot

I definitely think she had AS. She was clearly also very high-functioning and comfortable with who she was which is why she seemed almost defiant about the fact that her AS is just part of who she was and people should accept it. She wasn't beating herslef up all the time or apologising for existing etc.

I have to admit that watching the programme made me a little uncomfortable - because the 2 main characters' traits combined remind me a lot of myself. It was like looking into a 'personality mirror' and was a little scary at first. I have AS and I watched it with an aspie friend who felt similarly uncomfortable.

But aside from that, I actually thought it was a decent film.

It is proving hard to get it here. They have copies in Poland off ebay but payment is an issue for me since I do not have paypal. How is everyone else getting to see it?

The thing is that it portrays two aspies with savant abilities, this could give the idea to the NT audience that all aspies are savants.

Definitely not obvious. Very high functioning, I'd say.

Interesting that the aspies in the movie had savant abilities, but many of the other autistic characters didn't. (Does knowledge about obsession topics count as savant abilities?)

FWIW i think she was AS, and i thought her character was based on someone with AS. I dunno, ive not read the book. Anyway here she is playing the Isabelle

She acts just like me, and I have AS. She's a female aspie without anxiety issues. I think the trademark anxiety component is what makes most aspies appear "aspie," both to other aspies and NTs. Without it, we just look mean and crazy.
