I´ve read recently that people with AS get tired easily and quickly with social interaction. I notice also that when I watch a particular type of movie- like, one where there are a lot of small social scenes, intrigue and innuendo, I am really interested in watching carefully, but I start to get tired pretty quickly. I even doze off sometimes, and have to rewind and re-watch; or, if I don´t doze off, I suddenly notice my mind has zoned out and I missed something crucial. But this doesn´t happen with other movies that are somehow "bigger" (more dramatic or action-subject oriented, or clear). Does anyone else have this problem?

I wish this didn´t happen, as I like movies.

Yes, I have the same problem. If I'm watching something with a lot of intricate dialogue I drift off. But when I watch a high action movie like The Bourne Ultimatum, I'm with it every moment of the way.

yes! I also drift off if there is too much talkings. And also if there is too many people introduced in a blurred way. As I have hard to recognise people everyone who turns up appears to me somehow to look more or less the same. That also makes it difficult for me to follow the story properly, who did and said what and when and where...confusion!
I also love the Bourne series

Social oriented movies and television are mostly lost on me, I prefer action and "Brain Candy" (ie the CSI Series)

I too have difficulty with social movies in that I can't tell one person from another. Plots are generally easier to follow when things are blowing up.

I don't know. What do you mean by 'social' movies?

I can appreciate good dialogue, but yeah... too much will cause me to overload and shut down.

Yes, I have exactly the same problem! And I often get confused between characters, because they look similar to me.

A "social movie" usually has more dialogue and less action than a non-socially oriented movie. There is often a lot of innuendo, quick facial expressions with no words, intrigue- (i.e., characters not saying literally what they really mean)- etc. Right now I´m watching "The Tudors" (series) because several people recommended it. I think I´m concentrating so hard, I keep dozing off. And 2 of the characters had me confused at first, because they look alike, but I think I have them sorted out now.

I understand, yes. I have problems with/a dislike for movies that don't seem to take a coherent Point A --> Point B route. I reach the end, and I can't see what actually happened and what the purpose of it was.

I've thought about this kind of thing before. I don't get on very well with subtleties, in general, in TV and movies. I don't think it's a coincidence that almost all of my favorites have simplistic, formula plotlines and very exaggerated, almost cartoonish characters, although I've only realized the fact in recent years. Purely preference, or because I've always found them easier to understand?
