Here is my review of "New Year's Rockin' Eve," for those of you who missed it.
Ryan Seacrest, who had been on "New Year's Rockin' Eve" since before 11:35, was on, and he sounded like he was having a great time. For those of you who don't know who he is, he is the host of "American Idol." There had been people lined up in New York City since 4:00 that afternoon, but I think that's the way it had worked out every year. It was actually warm in New York City because believe it or not, since Christmas Day, it rained.
This new year was particularly emotional because Dick Clark had returned to the celebration after he had a stroke. God bless him! He is a fighter! The only thing is, he sounded worse than he looked. It looked like they had put a tube in his throat for him to be able to talk. He was always happy on "American Bandstand" and "Pyramid," but we had to turn the volume up in our household because we couldn't even hear what he was saying. It sounded like he was in good spirits, though.
Mariah Carey did a live performance in Times Square before the celebration. Ryan had said that she was going to do "Don't Forget About Us," but she ended up singing every song but that one. She has had the biggest year in music out of her whole career, and I believe that. However, I think she tries to "show off" too much.
In the seconds after the new year, Dick Clark kissed his wife, and Ryan kissed Mariah Carey. I'm not surprised that Dick kissed his wife, but I am surprised that Ryan kissed Mariah Carey. I wish he could have found someone better to kiss.
Also, while they were playing "Auld Lang Syne," a priceless blooper occurred. Ryan Seacrest called Dick Clark "Dick Carey." I will never forget that blooper, and it will stick out in my mind for a long time.
I also watched some of the other musical performances that occurred last night. The Pussycat Dolls sang their hit song, "Don't 'Cha." I actually like them. Yes, they are all about beauty, but their songs have a retro beat to them. "Don't 'Cha sounds like a '70s disco tune, while their other hit song, "StickwitU," sounds like an '80s girl group pop song. It was great to see such talent.
Then, I watched Chris Brown sing his hit song, "Run It." He is like a black Mick Jagger. He tries to make a total fool out of himself. I do not like him at all.
Then, I turned off the TV.
I know, they say, "Don't miss the celebration for the fun," but after many hours, it can get boring.
Overall, with Dick Clark being back, the weather not being cold, and everyone having hope for the new year, it was great. I liked it.
