Anyone remember what the Disney channel was like when you were little. I can remember the Disney channel from the early 90's.

Does anyone remember Oswald the Lucky Rabbit? That's WAY oldschool Disney, back from 1927. 8)

Disney stuff used to be good before all that HSM crap took over.

When I was little? When I was little we had three channels plus PBS and no remote. And that was just the 70s. Things have changed a LOT in the last 30 years. On the other hand, I actually saw Song of the South, in a theater. That's a thing you won't be finding now. Jury's still out on whether anyone minds.

1920s - 1996 was the peek of Disney.

This thread was about the Disney channel, not about the company. The channel launched in 1983. Back then you had to subscribe to the channel, it didn't come with cable. You had to buy it separately. Then on December 31st 1997, it officially came to cable so you no longer had to subscribe to the channel. Get cable, the channel came with it.

My old school (pre-Disney Channel) was Sunday nights: Wonderful World of Disney (I think on NBC) where they first ran that awesome opening with Tinkerbell and Cinderella's Castle and When You Wish Upon a Star - as the theme. I think Jiminy Cricket was the host.

If you were lucky it was Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse - but often they were those shows with baby bears rolling around and stuff. Kind of cute, pretty boring and sometimes outright traumatizing. Like 1/2 hour versions of Old Yeller.

Sorry - Spokane Girl - I know some of us are digressing - but its a happy childhood memory!

Yeah - and in MY day we had to walk to the TV, turn it on, TURN the dial to right channel. ANd if you needed to adjust the volume, you had to make the trek all over again! (But usually it was the youngest sibling's job).

Don't forget about the 2 lost Darkwing Duck intros, they were on the oldschool DC.
