why are nearly all characters in all (american) movies so 1-dimensional?

the charming guy is charming 24/7, the funny guy is funny all the time, the mean guy was born mean and will die mean.

every second i watch of this movie, robin williams character smiles and laughs and smiles and smiles, and the only time he doesnt laugh and smile is when hes told not to laugh and smile, but sometimes he laughs and smiles anyway

goddamn, its SO surreal it almost hurts me

it's a 'feel good' movie; and it 'teaches a lesson'...the suckiest thing about that movie is the closing credits wound up as the theme song for 'Star Trek:Enterprise'...;)

i know its a feel-good movie, but im getting "your not smart enough to grasp a more complex setting"-vibe from it :(

i KNOW 99% of all movies give me that. but i cant stop noticing and getting annoyed by it :(

its still running, ill watch out for the end credits!

That movie makes me want to kill myself.

Maybe the problem is too much worry about a film making money, and those interests influencing the creative process too much. -- As opposed to having creative decisions made by people with a vision and an actual story to tell.

i think about that SO often., especially when i hear about the concept of "test audiences" where they will re-write the STORY, in order to hopefully make more money. so story < money

its sad.

It's a true story, but it's not about Robin Williams, as they would have you believe...;)

nooooooooooooooooooo duuuuuuuude :D:D:D:D

"true story" you KNOW what that means, man!! !!

"true story" means "right, there was a guy, and he made kids laugh. lets use his name."

"based on a true story" means "right, this happened at some point, somewhere on the planet, right?"

"inspired on a true story" means "k. this came right out of my ass"
