David Tennant will have to fight creatures from Mars in his last days as Doctor Who.

So which Doctor Who villains come from Mars?

There have been more than one type of 'Martian' in Doctor Who. The Ambassadors spring to mind, and the Osirans imprisoned Sutekh there. But the Ice Warriors are more likely.

That being said, the Mirror's track record is a bit hit-and-miss.

Yeah, I immediately distrust them for calling the character "Doctor Who".

Maybe they've been talking to WOTAN?

I don't think that the Ambassadors were actually FROM Mars... didn't they just intercept the Mars Probe. I think the Novelisation at least makes it pretty clear that they weren't actually from Mars.

The Osirians weren't from Mars either - and to have Sutekh encounter the doctor before 1911 would upset the web of time.

The Ice Warriors however were clearly from Mars. I just hope that the TV series does them justice - they're a noble racce with good and bad intentions (and factions) - not just some enemy bent on world domination. Also, there's not a lot of them around, so destroying whole armies of them aka Daleks and Cybermen (and Sontarans) isn't the right way to go either. The Doctor should be sad if he has to destroy any.

Yeah, I know, but it is also stated that Carrington met them on Mars, when they (accidentally) killed his crewmate, and the working story for Ambassadors of Death was Invaders from Mars. Plus, would the Mirror know the difference?

Who says it has to be Sutekh? The Doctor in spin-off media has encountered other malevolent Osirans as well.

Click here to read about an interesting Ice Warrior story, involving the Doctor's Daughter (Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk...)
