I, along with our Asperger society, am going to see this film on Saturday.

I don't think it's showing in mainstream cinemas such as Odeon and Vue. There are however two independent cinemas in Edinburgh both showing Ben X in the coming week.

The film is a Belgian production (Dutch, with English subtitles). At this stage I'm not really supposed to know much about it but basically it's about a boy with Asperger's who is bullied at school - then over the Internet, he meets a girl online and enters a world of roleplay online.

That's all I know so far, there is certainly much more to the film than that but apparently I've been advised to be prepared for quite a serious film.

But from what I know the film has tremendous parallels for me. I have Asperger's, was bullied at school, have enjoyed meeting people over the Internet and used to do a lot of online roleplay, though not much nowadays. Looks like it's probably a film I'll be able to relate closely to.

i saw it a few months ago and really liked it, it was the first movie where i could actually relate to the main character. he's much more severe than me, but it was an amazing feeling to actually relate to someone in a movie.

Ah, that cartoon would be Ben 10.
Cartoon Network is putting on yet another
variant of that one. It's about as bad as
Samurai Pizza Cats, without the deliberate
attempt to milk its badness for laughs.

Is Ben X coming to Edmonton anytime in the
near future?

Did anyone get a chance to see Ben X yet?
I caught a review on NPR today and it sounds good.

Here's the wiki page:

I really want to see it now!!

Cool, I'm glad you were able to get it.

I'm still trying to find a less 'creatively licensed' version myself.

Downloaded it, loved it, except for the apparent moral of the story: one must lie and deceive to get the upper hand.

It did play in Portland, but the theater it played in was so expensive no one saw it.

Critics here in Hipster City are anti-autism, therfore hating the movie.

Buyer beware:If you want to see Ben X, but the movie is not playing in your city,
best wait for the DVD.

I got it out of the library yesterday and watched it. Very good. And I did like how it ended, with the idea that "someone has to die, before anyone will do anything" (too true). It was a good way of taking that on.

I'm going to watch it once or twice more before taking it back. I've got a week, and it will take a few views to digest it all.

I've wanted to see this ever since I watched a preview last year. Just have had a very difficult time finding a copy.
