Didn't see a thread...so post 'em here!

I thought it was great. It's most comparable to the first Spider-Man movie. The origin is very well-done. There's just the right mixture of action and character development. Complaints? Well, Red Skull was threatening in some scenes, but in others he was kinda silly, constantly getting his plans foiled. Also, I think the romance between Steve and Peggy could've been developed a LITTLE more.

Now go see it!

I just watched it this afternoon. I thought it was an excellent movie. I liked it better than any of the other superhero movies I've seen this year. I may go back and watch it in 3-D.

One of my favorite parts, though, was Captain America's first "assignment." If you watch the movie you'll know what I mean.

And stay after the credits. I couldn't believe how many people left the theater while the credits were rolling and missed the "extra" stuff at the end.

The only question I have is how is he able to bank his shield off walls? If his shield is made of vibranium, a material that absorbs energy, wouldn't it just absorb the energy at impact and fall to the ground instead of bounce off?

My wife and I just saw Captain America this afternoon, and we both really liked it. I certainly thought it was a better movie than Thor. It wasn't a perfect movie (the main bad guys being Hydra, and not specifically Hitler and the Nazis). but it had plenty of action, humor, and perhaps best of all, Hugo Weaving as an excellent Red Skull!

I liked the actor they chose he worked. I only wish I hadn't sat so close to the screen, my eyes have a hard time following action scenes.

I liked it. I loved the nostalgia factor and felt they made all the right casting decisions. Along with Thor, this was a great warm-up for The Avengers next summer.

This makes me think of a question I'd like to ask those who've seen the film. Are the action scenes shot in that annoying, super zoomed in style from movies like Batman Begins, Transformers, and Quantum of Solace, where it's impossible to follow what the hell's going on unless you're sitting in the back row?

I'm gonna go see this Tuesday... don't think I'll bother with 3D though.

This will make two theater movies for me in the same year! :D

The other movie was X-men: First Class. I didn't have the heart to see Green Lantern.

Heh, next month I might even go see Conan... but 3 movies in a year seems like madness.

I really enjoyed it. My friend convinced me to go to comic con with him. For the most part I hated the crowds but I did get tickets to the premiere of Captain America which was fun. The movie was really good. It was a fun summer movie. I enjoyed X Men: First Class more but it was fun.

Official GoonSquad review:

Not as good as X-Men: First Class but sufficiently awesome nonetheless. :D

I loved the nod to Ultimates at the end, and that Avengers teaser was fantastic!

Now, to wait for Conan...

I liked it - though I wish they had at least named or introduced the members of the "howling commandos" --- was super happy to see Dum-Dum though! Oh, if you can, skip the 3D version -- it doesn't add anything and makes the colors washed out.

Anybody else with me for banning small children from movie theaters? I like to be able to hear the dialog in the movie.

I agree that children need to be banned from movies. It is fine for kids movies that are geared for young children but there is nothing worse than seeing a young child in a movie that is clearly not for children. I think that children, people using there cel phones and people talking are my biggest pet peeves at movie theatres.

I'm willing to even compromise -- no kids in pg movies and up after 8pm --- heh I'll admit that kids / other people are one of the main reasons I wait till the movie either hits iTunes or a bittorrent site so I can watch it at home.
