I've just been informed that Wayne Allwine, the 3rd person to play Mickey Mouse, has passed away at the age of 62 of diabities.



Why God why?!

My blessings go out to his wife Russi Taylor (current voice for Minnie Mouse and also the voice of Martin on the Simpsons) and his family.

Rest in Peace Mickey.

Oh, no! Although I haven't been a fan of Disney films for some time, I loved his vocal work in the Kingdom Hearts games...

lol, ok good, because for a minute there I thought we had a f*****g problem!!

Mickey's not dead, just his voice is. As long as the Disney corporation can continue making billions off that character, it's not going anywhere for a long time.

A friend of mine even got sued by disney for painting a picture of Micky on the wall of her daycare center without express written permission. They settled out of court, but they got just enough that she could no longer run the business. This is a company that sues people for giving them free advertising, I don't think the death of a voice is going to persuade them, they probably already have a text-to-speech system in place where they just have to feed a script into a computer program, and it outputs a wav file of everything mickey's supposed to say.

Wow, he was Husband of Russi "Martin Prince" Taylor. Wow. Sorry to hear about his passing.

A few (very nerdy) forums are already making predictions on who's gonna replace him. The frontrunners are Dee Bradley Baker (who?) and Billy West.

I of course, couldn't care any less about who voices a cartoon character I haven't cared about since I was 8.

Nonetheless, this is pretty sad news. I feel awful for his wife. Had no clue he was married to Russi Taylor from The Simpsons.
