I've been suffering from insomnia, which defies medication. I'll probably switch back to sedatives for awhile.

I wonder if they put Hitlers dog on trial for war crimes.

I can't help it, honest. These things just pop into my head.

Nan the previous nazi's fault.

Make sure you have your glasses on. Even if you do, if you read like I do, sedatives and suppositories look remarkably similar in fine print.
I hope peaceful rest finds you soon. And believe me suppositories taken orally will not do it. This is the voice of experience.

Rest even if sleep doesn't find you just yet, it helps.

Spike made it through the night. :D

update: amazing. since his 5:00am feeding (it's 10am now) his wings have sprouted the start of his first feathers. looks like the very edge of a comb, little spikey things along the edge of his wing. they were just bumps at 5:00.

wish i could get comfortable, i'd just lay down and put him on pillow nearby and watch him grow, at this rate if i blinked he'd be bigger when i opened my eyes again! but i have only found one way to prop up to where i'm not cursing (note to Nan - do NOT lift heavy things over your head anymore) and he's doing well in his nest box, so i'll just be back to feed him again at 11:30.

besides, there's already an audience of felines waiting outside the door every time i finish feeding little spike. probably not wise to have him out there's a chance i could fall asleep. have to change his name to "appetizer" then.

our blind cat somehow got in the bathroom (where i've got spike in protective lockup) without my knowing he was in there at the last feeding and got locked in with spike. almost had a coronary when i opened the door and out trotted the cat. he hadn't bothered spike at all - most likely just curled up on the little rug and sacked out. (pwew!)

someday spike is going to look like this

Nan, is that the picture of an adult finch?

Hartz, I've had issues with insomnia. I've found soft music really helps, like the music done by Henry Mancini and Bing Crosby. If you want me to I could send you some youtube links so that you could try it out. And there are a couple of radio stations here in AZ that stream that kind of music over the internet 24 hours a day and I could send you links to them.

Just let me know.
