Hello my fellow Aspies,
I am new here, just recently joined although I have been watching these forums for a while. I am quite interested in connecting with others who share the same strides, struggles and interests as I do. As we all know, it is rather difficult meeting people sometimes in rather "regular" situations (or in my mind, "irregular" situations). I hope to find some good friendships and conversation on this forum and perhaps learn more about myself through the coming together of "like-minded-folk".
A brief description of myself:
My name is Micah and I am 19 years old living in Washington State. I am originally from the Midwest, but continue to call middle-Tennessee my true home (astory for later). I was always the oddball in school, which is why I was home-schooled the majority of my life. Students nor teachers grasped or understood my inability to maintain eye-contact or my disinterest in silly games and assignments. Although I was a straight 'A' student, it was not good enough for my teachers. My mother pulled me out of public school and my grandmother home schooled me because of this. I have since graduated, but unfortunately because of my "situation", I have not made many friends. I have also had to deal with Crohn's disease since I was a young lad, so have had to move from hospital to hospital a good portion of my childhood. My friends are scattered, tattered and few & far between because of this reason as well.
I apologize for the lack of details, however I wanted to save you all from a ridiculously long and drawn out story that would most likely bore you, perhaps even to death.
I have many interests; politics and music being the main two. I have been playing music since I was 11 years old. I am self-taught and play numerous instruments. I listen to everything from Pink Floyd and Michael Buble, to 90s Grunge and BB King. I appreciate good music, but not a whole lot of the garbage I hear today (dubstep pretty much sends me into overload, so it is pretty much a no go).
I will be attending college this fall (the location is undecided, but it will most likely be a community college until I can get enough credits to transfer to a university which I would be able to "grow" in). I plan to major in Political Science. I will most likely stray from the political conversations on here, unless someone would personally like to talk to me about it.
Anyway, that is pretty much me in a nutshell. There's a lot more to be told, but this should be a fairly long enough and descriptive introduction to myself. I look forward to speaking with you all and making some new friends.
