Hello!

I'm a probable aspie. I still doubt having Asperger's Syndrome. I must admit it's one of the reason I'm on this site. So I can confirm my doubt. Also, you guys/gals have a lot of problems I have and I like to hear your tips and insights. I also like to give useful tips to people. Also, I'd like to destroy the stereotypes I have. Also, I'm here to have fun. I like fun.

I really like logic. Everything is somewhat logic for me. I like complex logical systems such as mathematics, music, psychology, computers, etc. I also like symbols. I seek symbols in any artistical representations. I like categorizing things. It can be humans, plants, string of information, etc. I also like random facts.

If you wish to help me, I'll put the reasons why I think I am an aspie and reasons why I don't think so. I know some are extremely stereotyped but I still point them because they might be relevant.

Why I think I have AS.
- I'm really socially anxious
- I have difficulty with body langage and facial expressions
- I get distressed by schedule changes
- I am "too theoretical" ( I guess it's because I get mad when theory and practise doesn't match)
- I can't do something I haven't visualised
- I take things too literally
- I am clumsy
- I am more intelligent than the average (or so I have been told)

Why I think I don't have AS.
- I am sociable
- There's no big delay when I talk
- My interests are not excessively excentric
- I am expressive
- I am naturally polite
- Sometimes, in one-on-one conversations, I understand more bodylanguage especially when I know the person a lot
- I have a normal circle of good friends

Welcome to WrongPlanet.

Oh, and remember that Autism is a spectrum, and individuals on the spectrum are... well, individuals. As such, It is highly unlikely that your personality will be 100 percent identical to other posters on WP.

The best way is probably to focus on those traits that interest you/are problematic/are a big part of your personality, and decide for yourself. I am confident that there are discussions here dealing with every single trait that you mentioned.

Why the facepalm? I think it is always good to ask when unsure. No one will be exactly like me but it is certain we don't say someone is on the spectrum if he doesn't match any of this fellows traits.

Not sure the reason of the facepalm
It sounds like a possibility for you, but you know yourself best, and indeed whether it matters if you get a diagnosis or not

Welcome :)
