Hi! I'm the mom of a 14 year old Aspie daughter. We live in a very very small town where children who are different are very aware of their differences at a young age. Being a girl who has never fit in socially and has a very obvious finger stim seems to make it even tougher. Here hoping to show her that she truly is not alone...

No. You are not alone. I am the mom of a 13 years old Aspie daughter. We live in Panama, Central America. My daughter is also aware of her differences, but after about 5 years of therapy and tons of talking from my part, now she feels less helpless, more willing to fight back. She doesn't stim anymore, tough. She used to before she started therapy, but not anymore. My daughter is very active. She dances ballet since age 5, started playing the guitar last summer, is in her school band, and this weekend will start voluntary work. She only have an in-and-out friend, but she has a lot of acquantainces and that seems to be enough for her (thanks God). Mom and dad try very hard to be good friends and keep her busy so she doesnt feel alone. Welcome to WP!

Hi. My daughter is 16, beautiful, smart, sweet. Just out of the hospital after three weeks of trying to find the right meds to deal with her depression and anxiety (result of horrendous bullying). I am a very, very tired mom and hoping to get support here. We live in a college town in the midwestern United States.
