Hello I'm new here,
I'm a 29 year old female from the UK and I'm hoping to find support, and share experiences :) I was approached recently with the possibility of having ASD. I have now been referred to see a specialist for an assessment in around 10 months time and that 10 months cant come quick enough. Though I'm still marching on with everyday life, part of me feels stuck not knowing. I was unsure whether or not to join this site but I can't say I have anyone to talk to in my life that I feel will truly understand.
Anyway I'm looking at this in a positive light and I'm looking forward to talking to new people :)

Hello Red89 welcome to the Wrong Planet.

Who approached you? I won't believe you if you say a doctor, Welsh doctors can't be that different.

No the Doctors only suggestion was medication and counselling for me coping with things. It was actually my counsellor who has taken it further.

Wow! I suggested Asperger to mine when I was doing CBT (disaster) because family members told me I was, and she laughed and said no. that and all the false information about it put me off asking for an assessment for ten years. She did the CBT wrong too. Luckily I'd had counseling years earlier from someone who really helped me so I knew not all counselors were s**t.

10 years is an awfully long time to wait. Its really sad how people don't get listened too and get palmed off (some people are just in the wrong jobs). I've struggled with fitting in, anxiety and bouts of depression since I can remember, not really knowing or understanding why. My counsellor was a lovely lady, and I'm very grateful that she's helping me get to the root of my problems. I suppose not all people are bad after all :)

Welcome Red89!

I see where the name came from

Good thing you joined. Always nice having new people join.

10 months is a long time; understandable that you want that to come quick.

Feel welcome and I hope you will find the contacts, information and recognition you are looking for.

I have big social problems but look totally normal. People decide I'm a horrible evil unfeeling monster after they get to know me.
