Technology is great, I've always thought so. Through ChatGPT I learned about WP as a possible support resource as I struggle through this change of life.

My name is Sergio and was born in Havana, Cuba 79+++ years ago. I came to the US in 1960 with my parents (legally), studied HS and college in New York.

I've always had a "quirky" personality, always hated crowds and felt dizzy among them. I need order, it's essential. Crooked pictures won't do. Disorder upsets me. Over the last few years I've understood that I'm on the Spectrum, took an internet test, but not really interested in being diagnosed.

Now, I'm really OK and functional. I'm just giving you my worst points.

Personally, I play the piano by ear, standard songs and my own pieces. When I was young I spent most of my time painting (I have most of my paintings), sacrificing my salaried job. However, I did well enough in my job to retire nicely many years ago.

A year and a half ago, I sold my house and moved to an Independent Living Senior Facility. This was a drastic change, and one that motivates me to find support in WP. From almost total isolation in my house to a community living now. Needless to say, it's been a struggle.

Enough about me. Any suggestions?

Welcome to WP! I hope you like it here.

Suggestions? Well...um...I understand retirement homes often have...well...lots of STDs. Apparently it is frequent to get lucky and unlucky at the same time.

Thanks for the tip, Double Retired, but that's the furthest thing from my mind these days... I've always had trouble with human relations, and now I'm in graduate school (I skipped primary and high school along the way)...

But thanks for the welcome, and I hope to find new friends.

Yes, I consider myself very lucky. It's been difficult at times to "adjust" to having to deal with people constantly. Before, I was mostly alone.

When I learned about autism, I recognized many of the behavioral traits in myself. I've always been criticized in my family for being "difficult", etc.

I did take one of those internet tests and confirmed my thought. Since then I've read a couple of books on adult autism, since the topic seems to me to focus mostly on children, and they've been helpful.

Adjusting is a process, and I think I've made good progress!
