yeah, this is the oldster's planet. most of us didn't know we were Aspies till we were after 40 and beyond. We are sorta from a different wrong planet, right, Chuck?

Yeah well that's one of the nice things about the Cafe, there's no door here, come and go as you please.
Did we ever figure out who stole the door? I think they should be rewarded for their efforts.
Bet it was Nan and Blessed, you've got to watch those two, very very carefully.
They're probably out on the coast using it as a surf board. Can't you just picture it?
The two of them together on the door, surfing into the beach, riding the big one.
Well it's a better picture then Nina Hagen doing obscene things to a cello. Make it stop.

no, nerds still aren't cool, but they are trendy now. Just ignore it, Manic-Depression got a new name and then Bi-Polar became trendy, now AS is trendy (or so they say, I have met only a couple people in the whole STATE that has even heard of it!) but soon there will be another 'fad' and poof. . we will be the hermits again ( by the way, Hermes is all wrapped up in a hermit, especially if they are hermetically sealed!)

captain:  I don't sees yer point...
Peter:  "Hermit": from the Greek ἔρημος erēmos, signifying "desert", "uninhabited", hence "desert-dweller"; adjective: "eremitic", is a person who lives to some greater or lesser degree in seclusion and/or isolation from society. I'm an Aspie fer cryin' out loud!
captain:  ...there is NO desert near here, my Liege. We are in a forest.
Peter: 8O Hmmmmm.... Tell you wot. I can't be very well secluded with 10,000 troops milling about. Why don't you and your men mosey down to Cologne, sack the bibliotheque, and return the books to me. ...But leave one of those cannons, ...I want to test a theory I have concerning parabolic function.... ...right. Now, ...off with you! Go! Off you go!! ! Off I say!! !

My god what have we done to you? You were so quiet and good when you came here out of the cold cold harsh world and look what has happened.

[quote="Chuck"]On this day in history:

1096 - Peter the Hermit gathered his army in Cologne. Now, just who was Peter the Hermit, how could anyone be a hermit while in possession of an army, and who did Peter's army expect to sneak up on having been gathered in cologne? (Perhaps he overwhelmed his enemies not in numbers, but by rank?)

Thanks Chuck. My daughter is actually doing a major essay on Peter the Hermit today for history. I told her the information you provided and she was impressed!! !! !!

I liked how Led Zepplin used the tarot card of The Hermit on the back of the "Stairway to Heaven" album. Supposedly the Hermit is the card for Virgos I think.
As for Peter, I also don't understand how you can be a "hermit with an army"
Hi new people :D
p.s. Is anyone else going to watch "the Human Footprint" on National Geographic tomorrow night? Makes me feel a little alienated that no one else here out of over 18,000 people seems to care enough to post a response in the tv forum.
Blessedmom and all you other "tree-huggers" rally your friends and family. Personally, I can't wait to see a "Visual" of our consumption. I'm sure it will be sobering for many. Sorry I'll get off my "soapbox" for now. :D

Sinsboldly suggested I check in to this thread due to my distinguished maturity. I self diagnosed and got professional confirmation just in the last two years. It is the oddest of times; it is the most normal of times. I found WP helpful in discovering what details of my behavior might fit into the overall ASD scheme. At the same time, I was discovering that those behaviors were (surprise, surprise!) not in the normal range.

Overall, I'm happy to find out about this planet-of-planet for dinosaurs such as myself. I am sure it will help me order the random pieces of my mind and perhaps laugh through my bouts of seeing myself as a Martian.

I have to run and attend the chaos but thanks for the invite!

:P Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm pretty sure me and ol' Peter are relatives. Yes, ...I'm sure of it. I can tell you all kinds of stories about "Uncle Pete" if your daughter is having trouble writing her paper. There's a pretty good picture of him in wikipedia riding a donkey behind his army (well, ok... ...handful of crossdressers), "pointing" the way towards battle and death, bravely pointing the way from the dangerous rear, ...probably with pillow and beer can coat-of-arms ... ...just let me know and I'll fill her in.

I'd watch it, but when I'm riding my stationary bike to generate electricity, I can only store enough to run this computer. So I never watch TV. But it sounds like it will be a good show! :D (...uh oh!! !... better .... >hufF!< >WHEEZE!< >Accckkkk!! !< ...peddle ...some ...more...... .... ... )

I didn't know it was the Cafe door when they gave it to me. All I wanted was a stable base for some extreme ironing, having had mixed success when trying to subdue cars.

This one did give in once I showed it trousers with creases sharp enough to shave with. You just need good balance and a calm hand on the iron.

No, but I have an excuse: I am so tree huggerish, I don't have a TV, although that probably is because the trees here are just so much more huggable than in Alaska. Also, the doctors don't allow me a TV. Or knives, or forks, or any metal objects, really. I am so tired of soup.

Back to Led Zep. The sounds that their voices and guitars make hit me "more than musically". There was a thread recently on animal echolalia that included people who feel that certain sounds seem like they should be responded to as speech. For me that includes some sirens, cat sounds, and lots of the guitar work on Zep I and II. I am totally drawn in (and perhaps hermetically sealed)!

It was often torture to listen to an not be able to howl back in front of friends.

Quick.... someone get the chains. Chuck has escaped again.

(And I'm sure I caught a glimpse of Postie around here too... we need the "special" rope for him.)
