My daughter was just watching "The Last Mimzy". It is a most unusual movie. This is the theme song at the end. It is haunting, as is the movie but I will probably buy it and watch it again. Lil' girl has watched it 3 times and I only rented it yesterday.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eraser: Raiden, the much maligned main character of MGS2, goes back in time. His mission is to kill Naked Snake (the main character of MGS3, and Solid Snake's father), so he can get the main character role for MGS4. Things go wrong. Spectacularly wrong. Hilariously wrong.

Talking about aspie women ... I have met Sleepy Dragon and she has one of the most beautiful faces I've seen! You have such a sweet expression, Sleepy Dragon.

Re Swampblossom - in my opinion loopy is good. I don't think I could have a deep friendship with someone who is not loopy.

Re Krex: birds are my favourite animals because they mate for life. How cruel we humans are!

Re WP: I cannot imagine any other site like this. I haven't been in any other chat room but I wouldn't be bothered looking. Sinsboldly, you've written a poem in you description of female primping etc.

I have to post a song by a new Canadian artist that I just love. His name in Justin Hines, he's from Toronto and started as a children's entertainer. His is a story of true strength and courage. He has
Larson's Syndrome which is a rare genetic condition that causes painful degeneration of the various joints in the body along with comorbid conditions such as heart disease. It hasn't stopped him from making beautiful music with the gift he was given.

I am almost ready to send my book off for rejection. I hope that you all are well! Until I get it and a few other projects completed or at least at good stopping places, I'll only be checking in sporadically. I apologize for my absence!

Visiting my relatives on my ADD medication was eye-opening (and ear-opening). Most of them are as screwed up as I am (thank god), and several were hilarious! It was great to meet most of them. I was shocked at how many I recognized, and shocked at how many I did not know at all. My sister sidled up to me and said "Chuck, don't introduce yourself as 'Hello! I'm Chuck', they already know that!"
...Well... I didn't know them...

At one point my Aunt Joyce said "Congratulations Chuck!", and everyone turned my way.
"For what?"
"Your dad told us that you have Asperger's and tested as genius."
"Oh, that. Yeah, well, I thought... we thought... I was stupid, so - surprise!! !"
They laughed, thought it a joke, but I was serious!

I was able to massage the numbness out of one cousin's right arm, and fixed another cousin's son's shoulder, so I was happy about that. And I wandered off outside by myself for a while and found two baby bunnies that fit into my hand! Cute little brown ones with no fear - came right to me when I sat down.

A couple of hours into the visit on the first day one person said "Wow! I've had enough visiting and people for one day, and most everyone agreed and left! No one was upset or offended by this. The ones who stayed took a break from each other. Probably quite a few in my family have Asperger's.

My dad was surprised and had fun on his 80th, so that was good.

When I left I told everyone that it was good to finally meet them, and that they should not expect to see their Asperger's cousin for 40 more years. They laughed, but I was serious.

Howdy, everybody! I've been absent - life's been fun...

On Saturday, my faithful piece-of-Dell computer, SAL9000, died abruptly. I'd been surfing the Web, got my dinner, came back to resume reading - got a couple of flickers, then a black screen. Tried adjusting the connectors, then, a couple of days later, got a new monitor, and when that didn't help, a new video card. Still nothing. Took the monitor and video card back - I plan on replacing SAL next month.

Then my wife's laptop, DarkAngel, got Coke spilled onto it by young Iain - while she was online, chatting with J in Iraq. She'd just gotten her webcam running, too, so it was videophone time. That sent her into a depressive episode, so I left work at lunchtime Monday. Took today off, because she still needed me, and because we were shopping for a car for J, using his reenlistment bonus. (And using some of it to get her a new laptop at Fry's...)

Welp, had some fun getting the new one online - it's got biometric security built in, and when the scanner window popped up the second time she powered the thing up, she thought she was locked out. This had been while we were trying to recall the password for our secure network (the only computer that remembers it, MistressMorgaine, is in Iraq with J, and he's on duty right now). This happened while I was out picking up some milk. Add to this a call from her mother, who still seems to be convinced that we can troubleshoot her DSL problems in San Diego, from here, 1600 miles away, better than her DSL provider (and who always lays a guilt trip on H when she doesn't live up to mummy's expectations), and another from a friend (whose problem sleeping is of course of much greater import than anything happening here), and she got hit with a nice anxiety attack. Then, not long ago, from nowhere, there came a sudden allergic reaction - to nothing we can name, but she began itching all over, then breaking out, then her mouth started swelling from the inside, then hives, and by the time the paramedics got here, half her face was swollen and her vocal chords were paralyzed. So she took a nice ride to the hospital, and somehow I don't think I'm going to be making it to work again tomorrow...

On the plus side, the job sucks, so if I'm fired I won't miss it, and since J's Basic Allowance for Housing and family separation pay should begin in September (since he and H got legally married a couple of months back, so she and the kids could get his military medical coverage - I'm still using my plan, not getting sick or hurt in the first place), we can get by quite well, even if I don't work for a while. Also, the new computer, ArmyWife, has a spillproof keyboard, and a shock-resistant hard drive (and a titanium-alloy case!), so I don't think the kids can do any more damage.

(And thinking of the job, I have to wonder again - how did a nice Aspie boy like me wind up working fracking telephone customer service, anyway????)

Quatermass, nannarob, you do make me feel heaps better. QM, srsly, couldn't help but laugh at pwnage of that magnitude! And (ahem) the uncanny resemblance between Raiden and Justin Hayward did not go unnoticed. (Cheeky...)

Who the heck is Justin Hayward? In MGS2, Raiden's a more serious character, but he wasn't very well liked by some players of MGS2.

The reason why Volgin (that fugly scarred Russian in the long coat, who appeared in the "Diehard" video) grabbed Raiden's crotch is that Volgin is bisexual. In MGS3, Raiden has a double (possibly a relative, but definitely not an ancestor) called Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov. Raikov is effeminate, but sadistic. When Snake disguises himself as Raikov, he can beat up fellow soldiers, and they won't fight back. They'll even salute and thank him (fearfully, of course). In fact, Raikov's middle name is a pun in Japanese. Volgin has the code-name 'Thunderbolt', and 'Raidenovitch' can mean in Japanese "Raiden no b***h", or "Thunderbolt's b***h". Hence what happened. You have to be an MGS fan to truly appreciate it. And have played MGS3. I recently got MGS3: Subsistence, so now I don't have to resort to YouTube to watch them. My favourite of those short ones is "Gotcha This Time". That look on Naked Snake's face as the C3 detonates, that "Oh sh--" look? Priceless.

Justin Hayward is/was the lead singer of the Moody Blues, a prog-rock outfit from the 60s and 70s. Nan posted one clip - "Gypsy", I think - and I posted another one, "Never Comes the Day." You know, blond and too pretty to be allowed - like Raiden.
