Merle..It is such awesome news that you are going to be seeing this new psychiatrist

Be sure and share any insights here. I always hoped I would find a psychiatirst that I thought was smarter then me...I know how that sounds but it's not that I think I'm "so smart" just that I have met so many really clueless ones and it is hard to open up to some one that you don't have any faith in their own reasoning abilities. I think a few of them might have picked up on that from me?
Psychiatrists are a dime a dozen.
actually it was a lot more expensive than that, I bought him breakfast (biscuits and gravy.) I have only been tentively accepted by medical science and already I feel a lot different about what I have self diagnosed.
I was prepared (I'm a writer, right?) for his first question and he had the presence of mind to write it down word for word. I said:
"Long ago, when I was a young girl pestering adults with endless questions I was told that God Himself would paitiently answer all my questions when I went to heaven. When I listened to that NPR radio broadcast about Asperger's Syndrome it was like I was having that little chat.
The only time I have ever been so absolutely certain of anything else was when I realized I was an alcoholic - that is how profound my belief was."
And at this, he just reached past his shirt lapel and pulled a thick gold necklace out from his tee shirt with an 11 year AA sobriety medallion dangling from the end of it. It was his way of letting me know he understood completely.
the adventure continues
