krex, one of the London Aspies I met (not Lau) told me he is having success because he's found a psychiatrist who isn't intimidated by his intelligence. This shrink is open minded and learning from the WP member.

One of the reasons I love our psychologist is her open mindedness. She has her 4 year Psychology degree, 2 year post-graduate degree in Autism/Asperger's + a couple of years at Minds and Hearts (where Tony Attwood works). However, she always says to me .... I learn so much from you and your sons ... I may have the piece of paper but you guys live with Asperger's 24/7.

Merle, I'm looking forward to reading what happens with your new psychiatrist.

Geez, I don't check in for a day and a half, and look at what you people get up to!

For those who, for one reason or another, didn't get the "shirt" gag: On the original Star Trek, the crew wore long-sleeved, pullover shirts, each in a color appropriate to their department: gold for command staff and astrogation/helm; blue for sciences and medicine; and red for engineering and support staff (including Communications and, infamously, Security). They also wore black pants and black boots.

The publicity still I saw of the Wiggles showed the four of them wearing black pants and boots. As well, each was wearing a long-sleeved, pullover shirt - one gold, one blue, one red, and one purple. (Section 31, maybe?)

And if your ever hanging out with the star trek characters, you didn't want to be wearing a red shirt.

Everyone else on the away team was usually ok. The guy with the red shirt would get killed.

Psychiatrists are a dime a dozen.

actually it was a lot more expensive than that, I bought him breakfast (biscuits and gravy.) I have only been tentively accepted by medical science and already I feel a lot different about what I have self diagnosed.

I was prepared (I'm a writer, right?) for his first question and he had the presence of mind to write it down word for word. I said:

"Long ago, when I was a young girl pestering adults with endless questions I was told that God Himself would paitiently answer all my questions when I went to heaven. When I listened to that NPR radio broadcast about Asperger's Syndrome it was like I was having that little chat.
The only time I have ever been so absolutely certain of anything else was when I realized I was an alcoholic - that is how profound my belief was."

And at this, he just reached past his shirt lapel and pulled a thick gold necklace out from his tee shirt with an 11 year AA sobriety medallion dangling from the end of it. It was his way of letting me know he understood completely.

the adventure continues

Merle

Merle, I'm sorry. My comment was not a reference to cost.

It's a metaphore that means that there are a ton of different psychiatrists out there.

hahahaha

That pic reminded me of something I saw a woman wearing when I used to do street ministry.

I guess it was a dress. She barely had a skirt, and her top was just two thin pieces of cloth running down her front.

Wow, that girl was UGLY!!

I could never figure it out, it seems that the uglier a woman is in her face, the more she will frequently show off her body.

Yech.

she wasn't dressing for you, morning_after, nor did she give a rap for your unsolicited opinion.
The bearded lady in the side show probably doesn't want to be there, but you take what you have and work it. I have that very problem, a smoking hot body and an ugly face. Guess what I emphasize?

Really?

Does it have something to do with feeling good about how you look?

As for me, I won't tell people how to dress. But I promise you if we ever met I would try not to notice.

But if I stare, don't hold it against me.

yeah, cause I dress to emphasise my intellect, Pakled. You would never remember what I was wearing because it would all harmonize and misdirect you to listen to my words and my line of thought. I use fashion to my advantage but you could take me to meet your mom with no misgivings about my attire.

That's nice.

Not the type of attire I was talking about, though. I feel I could look at someone dressed the way you describe.

The ones I was talking about are people that look like they want to show as much skin as humanly possible. More like they;'re hardly wearing anything. They make me feel dirty.

I think I would feel comfortable around you.

"Mimi on the Beach", Jane Siberry

... The great leveller is coming
And he's not going to stop to take your pulse
And he's not going to ask you why you're the way you are
And I think that's the worst part
You never get a chance to explain yourself
And he's going to take those mountains
And shove them into the valleys
Until there's nothing left except a vast expanse
And you'll float there, Mimi
On the flat Sargasso Sea of your soul
And if they pull you away from your bleaching pink surfboard
And stretch you across the wind
You'll make no sound
Wet leaves on a dry map
Nothing, nobody
The great leveller or the great escape?

But the day was faultless in beauty
Pitched on tropical scenery
Stretched from white sand
Up to the open sky
Down to the shining sea again
And then back to me
And Mimi on the beach
Mimi on the beach
Mimi and me...

I'm on holiday! Woo hoo!

Nice to have a holiday

And what here are we going to hunt for food? It looks barren.
