Nice pic of your dad, though.

I don't have a clue what you mean by " when you blow the margins". Something to do with the way I write, I'm assuming?

no, you 'blow the margins' by posting huge pictures that make it impossible for others to contain the forum with in the margins of the screen. Lau can help you with that, he can even reset the margins and I have asked him to do so.

Its a technology thingie, Postie. Your content I have to deal with myself!

NB. I keep forgetting to mention this..

Postie, I had to AdBlock your "Yurt" picture: Image

Which reminded me that Bruton Yurts is just up the road from me.

Then I noticed that your dad's picture was easy to sort out: Image

All you do is to stick "th_" on the front of the file name, to get the thumbnail version.

Yes, we all need to howl once in a while, don't we krex. It's the biting that we have to keep under control.

I heard the song in the truck this morning, was deeply moved ("what's that you say, you were moved? But you have Asperger's, you're not supposed to be deeply moved by anything") (duh) and had to find out the name and artist. Called the station and they gave it to me. It reminded me of my daughter. Glad you enjoyed it. Also, I thought of you and Hartz, (and others here in the cafe as well) if I can be frank. I guess it was the line "you've suffered enough" and that discussion about will to live that we had a couple pages back. So, I'm doubly glad you liked the song.

I was wondering, has anyone here ever felt a little harassed in the workplace? What did you do about it?

I had a coworker who took a call pretending to be me. He was on call and I needed to leave. I had tried to tell him I had to leave, but then he pulled that.

I was in the middle of typing this and he called to apologize. But still I was wondering what do you guys do when you feel a little harassed or bullied, at work or whatever?

Humph. This is what Postie's pic looks like at 8X.

Image

Its filename is gfa_bye_sign. This does not shed any additional light. Lovely earth tones, but. :D

P.S. Just had a great visit with Robyn and Jim. My old man finally got introduced to them. Mirabile dictu! They don't possess green skins or devil horns, they didn't bite, and they're actually pleasant to talk to!

Maybe next year he'll come with us when we go out for lunch!

oh, **** yes! The woman I sat across from for 18 months at my current job in the Southern office would hiss at me from time to time when her disgust of my presence got too much for her to bear. Every now and then she would lob a snarky zinger across the low partition between our desks. Everyone knew she detested me, but frankly no one takes on a bully in an office setting, especially management, no one wants to be on the excruciatingly correct butt end of her campaigns against whom ever.
she just spread her hateful little vibe everywhere and I transfered to another city and my desk mate on the other side transfered to the training department. From what I hear, she is just as snide to the people that took over our spots.

Also sitting in training I got slammed in the head with a foam stress toy thrown by a guy that wanted out of the contract and was sure I would rat him out, he would be let go and the rest of the fawning training group would hate me forever for getting 'little Nicholas' fired. I didn't say anything and he was fired later anyway for incompetence.

And then in a follow up training two other CSS's eyes met and rolled with great significance when I found myself asking questions too often .

Oh, yes, yes, there are harassers and bullies everywhere, and that is just in my current job. They smell a victim, they mistake kindness for weakness and they can spot a 'ret*d' a mile away.

i once had a teacher that deliberatly left with the bus without me and my class being there,
i was waiting inside because i could not leave the little ones in the rain
and went looking every three minutes whether the bus had already arrived, she knew very well that i had to be on that bus too,
she pretended that this was not on purpose, she was the kind of type that announces things about others in public (with a big smile!)

so i told this to everyone that day before she could come up with some story, and fortunately people
stayed with me on this.

as a kid i would have been defenseless, even now it's tricky, especially cause i cannot clothe myself like others do, even if i try it'll still be odd, so i prefer to go for plain odd, then just a little bit (wearing long skirts, having red hair,t-shirts in plain colours, having (fake) fur jackets, etc) that seems to have a better effect, it has some kind of message of 'strong' personality or something

I understand this. I cannot clothe myself like others do either. That is why it is such a relief to no longer have to go to the "work place". No matter how hard I tried to fit in by dressing "properly" I always seemed to stick out as looking oddly dressed. Received comments about my clothing that were confusing, not really compliments and not really insults, just people always making sly remarks of some sort. I don't know what they would have said if I hadn't used restraint when choosing what to wear. But even restraint didn't let me slip by without comments.
