Here's the IRS link that will tell you what to expect. I note that it's telling me I'm to get $900, but I have read elsewhere that the kid would have to be under 17 for me to qualify for that, so ... who knows? Never thought Uncle Sugar would be buying me an air conditioner. Says on the news the deposits are supposed to start today. It ain't there yet....

And yeah, Deacon, Richie is right. You can never tell. Some places are a bit notorious for the ambient violence, but it can happen anywhere. And does. Unfortunately. All you can do is whatever you can to minimize the risk. And, also unfortunately, it's a hell of a lot easier to do that if you have enough money to live in places where it doesn't happen often.

I was just on that site and I might qualify for $600.00. But it is best to wait and see...

Actually, this neighborhood is pretty safe - H just can't take living in a place that was shot at, even randomly, so we'll be moving a little sooner than we thought. (Then again, my standards for "safe" are pretty loose; when I married my first wife, we were living in Omaha, NE, right on the dividing line between the North O Rats and the 32nd Street Gangster Disciples [this was during the expansionist phase of the Crips and Bloods, back in the Eighties]. Our block was pretty quiet, though - the Hell's Angels up the street weren't tolerating any nonsense from the kids. Later, I stayed for a time with my parents in Vista, CA, when Vista XIII and the Vista Home Boyz were fighting for control of the streets. I literally went to sleep to the sound of gunfire - you can get used to anything, given time...)

Breaking news at noon today - a high school about three or four miles away went into lockdown, after one of the kids showed a pistol between classes. The kid is under arrest, and the weapon has been confiscated. As we're in Lakewood and the incident was in Tacoma, I don't know if forensics will try to match the bullet in our living room to the gun, but I'm kind of hoping they'll check on it. I'd find it comforting to know that the person who shot my home is in custody.

Something kind of funny happened today. I was about to get into the car with my
NT friend. I noticed a very large spider running across the back of the car, just
inside the back window. I told her that I had seen a very large spider, but she
interpreted what I had seen as a blowing leaf, since several had drifted onto the
car in her absence. I Insisted that I had seen a spider but she didn't seem concerned.

We drove to our destination, and she got out of the car to take something from the
back seat. And screamed and flailed her arms around. She had seen the spider. She
was freaking out so badly, that a store employee came over and wanted to know if we
were alright. It was a Wolf Spider, which are pretty big and alarming looking. the spider
ran out of the car and underneath it. After she had calmed down, she said that the
next time I said I saw a spider, she would believe me. She went on to marvel at my
ability to notice little things that usually escaped her attention. I jokingly told her that
me and my cat usually noticed insects inside the house, at about the same time. :)

well, when it's just me and the cat, the spider is noticeable because it is the only OTHER thing that is moving. That would get my attention immediately.

Our nickname for my husband's car is "The Spider Trap".

Hope you're feeling better, Hartz.

Another good tune from the Donnie Darko soundtrack: 'Til Tuesday, "Voices Carry".

He wants me
if he can keep me in line

Hush hush

 My lesbians are long gone. That happened in the early seventies. But a lesbian camping trip would be a trip. I like lesbians but I am not attracted to lesbians in a sexual way. They don't engage in small talk, they don't take any BS, I feel comfortable and safe in their company.

:P :P :P

this emoticon isn't as good as other's I have seen for sticking a tongue out at someone.
I suppose it is a cultural thing. . in most parts of The States it is concidered a 'raspberry' where you just stick it out and make a PPPPPPPPUUUPPPPUPPPPhuhp sort of sound.
It mostly means we get the joke/pun/idea and are gently teaasing you about making it.

so. . ppppppppppppppppppppppppthuuup. . .
