:) Very nice, Lau!

Had a busy, busy week! I decided to prune and trim half the trees in my yard. It took me 8 hours on Thursday and I'm still feeling the effects of that bright idea (not). The next morning I had to be up early to take the little dog to the vet for his "procedure" and to have 3 hernias repaired. The little guy is now worth $75 a pound. And he's mad at me because he has to wear a cone to keep him from picking at his stitches. I'm the one who keeps getting the evil doggy stares from across the room. Heehee! He's a funny little dude!!

I worked Friday morning, had a mostly outside in the heat visit with a friend and her little daughter and ended up with a slight case of sunstroke. And no, I wasn't wearing a hat since that seems to be the first thing people keep saying to me, "You should have worn a hat. TSK TSK" Well that's all fine and dandy but hats make my head hotter than if I wasn't wearing one so what would be the point? I worked all day Saturday, spent half of today doing more yardwork and am now totally and completely exhausted. I really did mean to get to bed early last night but I started watching "Narnia" and just couldn't turn it off. It's one of my favorite books and movies.

I've missed all of you and sure hope that all this run, run, running stops soon. I don't know how long I can keep it up. I'm not as young or as healthy as I used to be, or so it seems.

Time to cook supper and do the laundry so I can go to work tomorrow with clean clothes on my person and the kids will be fed and happy! And so it goes..........

Blessedmom...my remedy for hat hate is to wear one of those visor thingies that go around your head but are open on the top. I also can't wear hats and this helps a little even if you still cook your brains a little they at least can get a bit of brezze which cools you off, (hats sufficate your brains, don't know how anyone can stand them. )

I've been working outside a lot too, Laurie. In my opinion, there's nothing more rewarding than putting in a long day's work in the yard and the garden. Now I understand why I like the smell of patchouli. It smells like dirt/earth.

In the spring,
at the end of the day,
you should smell like dirt. (MARGARET ATWOOD)

"Dirt is one of the more popular scents that the Demeter Fragrance line carries. Dirt isn't just a unique name, it actually smells like dirt. If you don't like the smell of dirt, maybe grass is better suited for you. Yes, you can smell like fresh cut grass all day long. For the plant lovers there's a perfume called Poison Ivy, that actually smells like the vine. How about Cannabis Flower, which is a perfect match to a marijuana plant in bloom."

I like the way my skin smells after I've been in the sunlight.

sorry, but i'm STILL shaking my head in disbelief over the a/c having a remote control. i mean, that is the height of lazy - it's only to cool 650 sq ft, it's not like you have to scale mt. everest or anything to get to it!

No, the HEIGHT of lazy is the fact that you can, this very day, purchase a car stereo - with a remote control. You're sitting right there!! You can't even lean forward to reach the controls???

tell me you're kidding, please?

On this page, scroll down to the Sony CDX-GT610UI. It's just the first one that I hit in the first reference on my first search.

At least with the A/C, you might be sitting across the room from the unit...

Thanks for posting the notes, Helen! That took a lot of time and I'm so glad you did. I've been working on a number of things that Dr. Attwood mentioned, and I'm glad to see that I'm on track with them. From the photo it looks like you were really enjoying the conference!

There are solutions to that problem. A search for "ventilated hat" turned up several patents. Here's just one:
Patent Office wrote:
Ventilated hat, United States Patent 5495622
Disclosed is an all weather runner's hat, the design of which promotes airflow around the head and hair of a person while, at the same time, deflecting rain which comprises a generally hemispherical shell, a brim which is attached at an angle of about 15° from horizontal and varies in width around the circumference, a number of vents positioned in the crown for ventilation, and a means of attaching the headband with spacers to create a novel air gap to allow air flow around the head and hair.

What's actually available to buy looks rather less exciting. Or you could try a Chinese straw hat. Personally, I've always been partial to a good beanie for those hot summer days:

Or one could do their yard work early in the day or at dusk to avoid the strong sun?

Where do you get your emoticons from, Richie? A picture says a thousand words, as yours do when introducing new folk.

Grommit, my husband wears a beanie too ...but in winter ...to Rotary meetings. I could start a thread about his shoes, his hats, his shirts ...

BLESSESMOM! :shameonyou: Stop this nonsense! You go right out that door and find a suitable hat. I have already had words about sunburn with you before. Listen: the.sun.is.you.enemy.if.not.contained!

As I say to my children, "I haven't time for funerals at the moment!"

I do not wish to have this conversation again!

Robyn sips her morning coffee and worries about Blessedmom.
