Grommit, my husband wears a beanie too ...but in winter ...to Rotary meetings. I could start a thread about his shoes, his hats, his shirts ...

BLESSESMOM! :shameonyou: Stop this nonsense! You go right out that door and find a suitable hat. I have already had words about sunburn with you before. Listen: the.sun.is.you.enemy.if.not.contained!

As I say to my children, "I haven't time for funerals at the moment!"

I do not wish to have this conversation again!

Robyn sips her morning coffee and worries about Blessedmom.

sheesh, like we are adults, Robyn.

Merle

if there is some social thing I am missing, I apologize. I have not been in control of my emotions lately and I get really literal when that happens.

I've been out all day and I was going to write a pm to Blessedmom as soon as I got back (which is now) to make sure she knew I was joking in my tone. Instead I will apologise publicly if my words came across as strident.

I do want you to avoid sunburn Laurie. I'm sorry if I upset you because I did not want to do that.

Robyn

My old man and I take turns: some days he's the grownup, some days I am. As long as we're not the same thing on any given day, it seems to work out all right.

Edit: Oooo, 45 pp to go!

... Oh, and speaking of sun protection:

Oh, Robyn..... I don't need an apology nor was I angry or offended!! :) I took that as it was intended.... concern lightened with sarcasm. It is what I would say to anyone who was silly enough to hang out in the sun for hours without the appropriate outerwear. I went and bought and outback hat this morning. My oldest son was thrilled. He's been wanting one for years so I bought him one, too. I have been remembering to wear sunscreen and Chapstick (for lips) with an SPF of 45 so that part of me is covered.

Sleepy, a burka would save me a whole lot of trouble. All those trouble areas, hidden. Sun?? Heck no! Oggling men...... Gone!

Lauri - I dunno how much spare change you have, but Amazon has a really good deal on some A/C units. Can you access Amazon.com from Canada? (I know it says "ship to USA only in a lot of the adverts I see here). A $250 room a/c costs only about 68 cents a day for a year, if you need to budget....

I get most of my emoticons from Photobucket the image hosting service that I use....If I find an emoticon or image that
I like, then I add it to my album.

I don't know why they take the time and material to cover up. Just put on 50 lbs/90 kilos and dye your hair gray, poof. . you are invisible.

10 WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE 'ESTROGEN ISSUES'

1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem.
2. You're adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet.
3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans.
4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everyt hing you say.
5. You're using your cellular phone to dial up every bumper sticker that
says: 'How's my driving-call 1- 800-
6. Everyone's head looks like an invitation to batting practice.
7. Everyone seems to have just landed here from 'outer space'.
8. You can't believe they don't make a tampon bigger than SuperPlus.
9. You're sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy.
10. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday.

this is sooo sad. sigh. i seem to have developed a fascination for watching the progress of our institution's shuttle buses. they put gps devices on them, and there's a website where you can log in and see a little bus of the appropriate number toodling around on the map of our city.

kid says i'm having wwwwaaaay too much fun watching the little bus stop at stoplights, etc. which i guess i am. but i can imagine what the people are seeing out the windows at the time, i know the route.

beats filing, that's for sure!

If you want another way to kill a few minutes....the following link about AS children functioning better when they have a fever is rather interesting.....

http://www.allina.com/ac/healthday.nsf/ ... A7001C01E2

I think some of the younger memebers are so strident about seeing AS as ONLY brain wiring that they may not believe that there could be other factors at play that are the actual cause of some of the problems associated with AS. My "theory" at present is that ....yes we have different brain wiring that accounts for many AS traits but that does not rule out that some "other" factors may be causing some of the associated difficulties and co-morbids that are not part of the DX but cause many problems when added to the AS difficulties. I am thinking specifically about alergies, digestion and endocrine problems. Has any one ever seen any viable statistical connection. The few research papaers I have seem have such small population of test subjects that they seem....not scientific?

I also found the article about the research that found increased grey matter in 10 year old HFA/AS to be interesting(same site). It also has the problem of small group of test subjects and only focuses on young males. I don't see how the researchers are ever going to understand AS unless they start believing that their are adults with AS who need to be part of such studies. It makes me want to scream that I never even see it mentioned in these studies that they should change this bias.

I think I posted an article here that did use adults and developed the theory that small chidren with AS develop to many neurons and it looks like a plate of speggeti because it is so crowded that they can't make connections...over time, many of these neurons die off and allow for more connections to be made. weird huh?

I wouldn't want to live on the coast right now...maybe they are going to fall in the ocean? The earthquakes look like someone drew a dotted line but I didn't actually see the "cut here" part...maybe it shows up on the satellite photos?
