nan I glad spike is doing well also, we have an owl sitting outside in the tree at our house right now, a barred owl, apparently common in our suburban area, but it's the first time I have actually seen one out in the wild, so its kind of exciting.

We have a couple of raptors that are living in the city of York, PA. Some birds of prey have adapted
themselves to urban environments...

Sounds surrealistic...

richie thats pretty funny
thanks for replying about the birds, although I myself am not into ornithology, am interested and a fellow friend of mine who is interested in birds said it was a barred owl, he was the one that told me that in recent years they have been making suburban areas their habitat

YEA!! !!
a good way to start 9-11.
we're going to be dragged through sniffly memorial services all day long. the rest of the year, it's hardly mentioned. but the anniversary has to be in 56-point type. hardly seems fitting. if it were me, i'd have wanted to be remembered more than once a year.

people are weird.

spike is doing well - has forgiven me for not feeding him all night. i seem to have rolled over at 1:30 and turned the alarm off, and not gotten up to feed him. he's doing well, so i think the little guy is about to lose that 1:30am feeding permantly!

glad i didn't leave work early to come home to crawl in bed like i wanted to yesterday. i'd have had to drive through all this, which was entirely too close to our place. on the good side, there wasn't that much left after the last one, so it was easily contained. and now there's no fuel left there, so it's a bit like a buffer zone for the rest of THIS year. looks like it's that time of year again! wish the smell wasn't in the air, it's making everybody antsy and cranky. ah, well, time to trot my neuroses out again... fair warning!

Happy Rudy Giuliani Day, everyone!

Honestly, if it hadn't been for the actions of nineteen suicidal maniacs that day seven years ago, Rudy would be nothing more than a historical footnote, a poor man's Ed Koch. Instead, he's been able to surf that wave to "leadership" (such as it is) of the Republican Party (such as it is)!

I was listening to my music today while doing morning chores (makes them go so much faster), and hit the Rush song, "Alien Shore". Sadly, there's no YouTube video, at least so far, but I thought it pertained wonderfully to the Obama campaign...

You and I,
We are strangers by one chromosome,
Slaves to the hormone,
Body and soul -
In a struggle to be happy and free,
Swimming in a primitive sea

You and I,
We must dive below the surface,
A world of red neon
And ultramarine -
Shining bridges on the ocean floor,
Reaching to the alien shore

For you and me,
For you and me -
For you and me
Sex is not a competition,
For you and me
Sex is not a job description,
For you and me,
We agree...

You and I,
We are pressed into these solitudes,
Color and culture,
Language and race -
Just variations on a theme,
Islands in a much larger stream

For you and me
Race is not a competition,
For you and me
Race is not a definition,
For you and me,
We agree -
Reaching for the alien shore
Reaching for the alien shore
Reaching for the alien shore
Reaching for the alien shore...

You and I,
We reject these narrow attitudes,
We add to each other
Like a coral reef -
Building bridges on the ocean floor,
Reaching for the alien shore

For you and me
Sex is not a competition,
For you and me
Race is not a definition,
For you and me,
We hold these truths to be self-evident,
For you and me,
We'd elect each other President,
For you and me,
We might agree -
But that's just us...

Reaching for the alien shore,
But that's just us...

- Rush, "Alien Shore", Counterparts (1993)
