Welcome, Lyetta, I hope you post here frequently! I'm going to be 52 in a few weeks. I certainly don't act like yer typical 52-year-old, not the ones in my neighbourhood anyhow. I've been known to indulge in the occasional "zOMG!!!1!! such-and-such was AWESOME, so-and-so ROCKS!! !" moment, then I calm down and have a good laugh at myself. Carrying on like that 24/7 is just too exhausting.

Okay, maybe now and then. Just for comedic effect, you understand. :)

Howdy Lyetta, like a muffin? Offer you a drink of choice? I like the coffee thing and was just about to kick the fire awake and have some. Not sure if the ice machine is working. As this is pretty much of a 24/7 place, someone will be on that has ice to spare for those of us in need and be plenty happy to see it come our way.

Some amazing people round these parts. Such a breath of fresh air. But, by now I hope you have seen them else where as well. Cafe tends to fend folks off sometimes, we really don't bite and do like to meat, err, meet new people. The more the better, somehow this place thrives best in chaos. I dunno, maybe it's the pace and the chaos that does the fending. But it's really pretty simple, just jump in where ya like and don't when ya don't want to. Don't see anything that fits? So start it up.

Now scuse me, going to go play with fire. It's a shiny thing. Going to get all hyper on caffine while I do it, this has just got to be good.

Ok, I'm panicing here!! Comedic? What's that mean, I don't do dictionarys, I mean that has to be obvious by my spelling. Going to sound it out...co-medic? is that like comorbid? It might be a Chuck doing his Shaman rituals? come-dic? umm is that like, err, no can't be that...might be like come Spot, come Jane? err no that still isn't coming out right. You can't know about Dick and Jane, terrible breakup and they had to ship poor Spot to the pound. But it's a known fact that 89.89% of all book relationships fall apart by the third grade. Ok, I give up what's it mean? Was this a test? Does this mean I have to do summer school? School?!? Ok, into over drive panic!! ! Can I copy your report card? Is there a Shaman in the house? I'm freaking out now!! !

Naw, maybe I'll just go watch the Twilight Zone on the tube and zone out on the couch, sounds like a plan. Night all.

Hi, Lyetta! I remember your first appearances on WP and I think I may have pm'ed you. This is the best place I know. You wouldn't believe that some of the people in this cafe were shy once...now they give lip all the time.

Be free to say what you want.

...and I have been here long enough. I must change my avatar.

I have a plan... coming soon.

But in the meantime, a revisit to an amusing site that Chuck passed on got me to:
Image
(That was my first non-miss. I've just had a few more goes, and have managed 1216.1)

I may have found a new way to communicate - via images.

The Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors, Even (The Large Glass)Image

Thoughts of privacy, community, networking (stupid idea), meeting.

Privacy. I seem to have made a decision to reject utterly all forms of privacy, That is, so far as I'm concerned. I respect other's choices in the matter. It is just myself I am baring to as public a display as I can manage/tolerate.

Community. There seems to be one growing, metamorphosing, festering, burgeoning, flowering and happening, here.

Networking. I have no idea what this means.

Meeting. In real life. Seems to be getting more popular? I think I'm quite good at meeting new people.

I rather wonder if the "bad press" Aspies get about socialising has very little to do with our inability to get on with others, but more with their inability to interact meaningfully with us? I have, over the last 18 months, met about 20 Aspies, and have instantly been (almost) completely (and mutually) relaxed in their company. I can't say the same about my contacts with NTs.

Our problem, as I see it, is that we are spread so thinly across the planet, that a place like WP is the only way we get to meet. Then there are all the horror stories about meeting people in real life, whom you have only exchanged a few lines of typed text with.

In here, Quatermass, Sleepydragon and nannarob had their meet on one side of the planet, Lemon, daughter and I have met on this side. (Hm. Both meets included an experienced NT chaperone, I guess... make of that what you will?)

Maybe we should do this more often? It could be interesting to at least be able to say I've met someone who'd met someone who'd met Postie.

Rambling thoughts stop here. Discuss. Credits will be awarded for depth of insight and breadth of breath.

Good morning, all. Just spending a moment here while I drink my tea. Woke up this morning with a horrible cold-like feeling in my head, looked out the window and was shocked to see the sky dark with smoke from the forest fires in Montana. I can't imagine how it looks if you live there. And all the damage to the Glacier National Park is so sad (mostly for the animals that reside there). I used to spend alot of time there in the summers when I worked just on the other side of the border at Waterton. Best summers of my life were spent there. HHMM, feeling a little reflective this morning apparently.

Lyetta, please stop by more often. I didn't say much when I first started here but now that I am comfortable around everyone I do believe some of them may like me to shush. It is a lovely place to be.

Okay, Lau I will try that avatar though I have a bit of a smirk there. I never learnt how to get 80% of the image that you did for my picture of Kiani, my husky, and so I didn't bother. I,ve bought photoshop and if I can't figure it out there I just push it under the carpet.

I think it is great to meet. I don't think I was an NT chaperone. I was nervous and I think it was Sleepy Dragon that relaxed us. But now I have the memory of Sleepy Dragon and Quatermass and it's great.

But talking nonstop for 10 hours ...about art ...

I'd love to meet more of you. I think it is because we are a `no BS, no frills' lot. We can just be ourselves and if someone has had enough, the others understand. I fit into that frame too.

I'm glad you have decided to become open, Lau... not that you haven't been. But there's a lot I'd like to know.

Hello to everyone. I am experiencing a heavy mind fog at the moment and do not feel all that coherent. I am back from a few days away and trying to read past pages. Not having an easy time of it. Can't seem to make sense of a good portion of it. Don't know if its you or me. I can still manage a LOL.

Enjoyed very much reading about the 3 L's in London. Don't get Chuck's comments about jail. Have to have some more coffee and maybe then go back and read once again. PP, I like your new signature. Very much.

CC, I'm glad you managed a few LOL's. I would be very worried about you if the antics over the past few days didn't make you at least grin!

Well, I have to make a run to the Physical Therapist with Soccerdude. He has a soft tissue injury to the knee thanks to misdirected soccer cleat. Good thing I'm not an over-protective mom or his soccer days would be over.
Back shortly

WHAT?!???! !!

Well, I guess the fault is mine. Half my thoughts were probably left inside my head, and I only imagined typing them. Or maybe I only imagined having thoughts. Or half of them. Same as the food I imagined eating. It would probably help both you and me if I knew what was real and what isn't, and which plane I actually exist in. Or think I exist in. Did I type this?

I do have something interesting to share with you about my little excursion to the Jersey shore. We went down to spend a little time with our eldest daughter, Aaron's mom and her family. It was the first time for them to be there without Aaron and it was difficult for her and all of them really, to bear, as it was one of his favorite spots to be and he always made it so much fun for everyone. But what I wanted to tell you was about a young man, Aaron's cousin, who is Autistic to a great degree and who is now sixteen years old. The young man's mother is my daughter's sister-in-law, or Aaron's father's sister. His father is a highly regarded pediatric surgeon. He and his mother stopped by for a bit as they were vacationing a few blocks away at the same time. He is tall, and very handsome and burst into the house highly excited. Said a quick hello to everyone, ran about the place for a bit, and then spied the audio-visual center and stationed himself there while his mother told us about a recent experience that had caused him to become highly excited. She and his dad had been having a minor spat, and were arguing about some non-sensical thing and at one point she told the dad he was full of s**t. The young man got very upset with the arguing of his parents and ordered them to stop and not to use bad words. He ran out side and started screaming "I have the worst parents in the world" and was scurrying about in an agitated manner. The neighbors were concerned and asked the older sister if everything was okay. She replied, "Yes, my brother has autism, and he is upset, that's all." I thought how difficult it must be for them, the family, and how the sister was able to just handle the situation as a matter of fact in her simple reply to the neighbors. Fortunately, this particular family is well off and have connections in the medical community, and are able to provide their son with the best of care and education. What about all of those children who don't have access to such resources. It was a real eye-opener.

Hi Lyetta!

Here are some hints and pointers that will assist your first days here:

1. Lau and Lauri (blessedmom) are twins who were born on separate days by different parents in different geographical locations and who have never met. NEVER mention this, as they will act like they don't know what you are talking about.
2. Never bring up the show "D-r-.- W-h-o" around Quatermass. He detests it and all who watch it. Throws him into a sapling snapping grass flinging rage at the mere mention of it. 8O
3. Carol (CosmicCat) just retired and is in and out of sorts. Keeps finding herself at work and getting sent back home. Tsk tsk. Poor dear. Lifetime habit. She'll be back to insanity in a few months. Hand her a Dylan song and she remembers that she's now free as UV waves!! !
4. Merle (Sinsboldly) is the FORCE. She and Postie communicate telepathically through her cat and his dog. They share a past life as the same person at the same time, but don't know it yet. ( ...er, the cat and dog that is). (Ok, Merle and Postie too). (Ok, maybe all 4). 8O
5. Nan knows karate. 8O
6. SleepyDragon is the only person who understands GMT time, and won't share the secret.
7. Lupine slows up occasionally, cracks up, then retreats to her lair, the fortress East Hawaii, where she is plotting the overthrow of Chairman Lau.
8. Jon (DeaconBlues) can speak in tongues, but chooses to speak with one instead.
9. Nannarob is a double agent Aspie/NT spy. 8O She claims to have once taught children, but actually was a pirate and trader near Madagascar.
10. Muffins. That's all I can divulge on this topic at this time.
11. Lemon was eaten by an alligator. LAU DID IT!! ! WON"T ANYONE LISTEN TO ME???
12. YowlingCat's (Yowler's) spirit (and sometimes actual presence) is always present. Presently.
13. Inventor sometimes stops by, but was cast out for saying "new-fangled sticky-ism", so NEVER say that. 8O Ooops!
14. Prof_Pretorius once shot a man's finger that touched his ferarri in a dream that Rjaye had
while taking too many caffeine pills that failed to keep her awake for an exam.
15. Krex speaks in truths outside the visible spectrum of light, but if you don't look for them, you can hear them.
16. We used to serve spam sushi bars, but there were complaints. Never enough of them. Complaints.
17. HartzofSpace is lurking, you can bet on it. (She's CIA).
18. Duck tape. Don't ask.

Well, not meaning to leave out other significant people, places, and things, I gots to go the gym.
You'll figure it all out soon enough. When you do, fill me in.

Ok, I'm willing. And I've been practicing the actual event.:

In this picture you see a team of NT's transporting
Aspie me through their world to your house:
(My mouth has been been duck taped for their
protection. I have been sedated for their sanity.)
Image

We haven't perfected the rest of the move, or all of the particulars yet
(something about negative vacuum pressure doors,
tenting your house, and an NT escape hatch).
