Nice dialog, too. Efficient character development:

Fwoom
Was that really necessary?
I don't understand the question.

I think the Mickey Mouse trousers on Hctib are a nice touch. And I only just worked out where the name comes from. I'm a bit slow with that.

Talking of slowing down, perhaps it is time to think about Death and What Comes Next.

Would that be Michael Flatulence?

creaky is a feeling in the mind, sometimes. Yowling Cat wrote that long ago. Welcome to the Cafe. There is always muffins around here, and fresh, too.

Sadly, the issue of finding assisted living for my mother-in-law is now moot. She had been ill with pneumonia for several weeks, and she died this morning. :(

Hello to Sharon06, and hope you enjoy the special blend of silliness on offer here. And as for you, Praggsy, this is the genius group that invented the bowling ball and possibly the concept of roundness as well, so hitch up that nappy and have a slug of Geritol and try to keep up with the hectic pace around here — if you can.

Linda, I send vibes of healing and peace to you and your mother-in-law. Please know that your hubby is held in high regard on the Cafe. I hope he is comforted by the concept of roundness as I know you are.

Thank you Merle for your supportive thoughts. My husband, who has had to endure 18 years of marital bliss with my little green self, thanks you as well. :) Indeed, roundness is very soothing, and I'm doing my best to promote it by maintaining a shape as near to perfect sphericalness (spheroidness? spheroidity?) as I humanly can.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Linda. As you unhitch from having to worry and organize her situation, give yourself time to feel relief along with your grief. Someone's passing is never an easy thing for those left behind, but if you give yourself the time and freedom to fully feel whatever comes, it will eventually fall into place and be a memory.

May I offer a virtual hug (or at least handshake) of support, Linda? I would give you my sympathy, but recently I've been informed (lectured might be a better term), by no less an authority than richardbenson, that aspies don't really feel sympathy or empathy - apparently, we just think we do...

deacon, tsk, tsk.

saw star trek movie tonight. fun, popcorn flick. they pretty much pulled it off. simon pegg actually did a decent scotty, and karl urban had mccoy down pat. i'm a trekie of the old school, and wasn't offended by this one.

kid has a screening test for a dispatcher job tomorrow.

she's also been authorized (finally) by the insurance company to see the mitochondrial specialist. had way too much blood drawn this week, her arms look like she's been beaten from the bruises, but maybe by the end of july we'll know if that's what's going on. and then, if it is, if there's anything to be done for it.

hope you folks all have a good weekend, and those of you in the usa have a good long-weekend.

going to see Star Trek Saturday matinee.

I had a good fit in a job on the telephones, being a problem solver. I didn't have to see them, I didn't have to deal with them physically in any way. I just closed my eyes and imagined the situation they were in and what was necessary for the success of the transaction. Focus is the key to good problem solving.

a nice long weekend and a short week next week. I am glad I have a job but I am glad to take some time away from it.

Thank you for this, Nan. I'm able to stay (mostly) calm and unruffled through it all, which not only encourages my nearest and dearest to do likewise, but also reassures our wider social network that we are not falling to pieces or anything. When it all gets too much for me, I go and hide for awhile. :)

Good to hear about the Kid's progress on the job-hunting front. :thumleft:

Handshake gladly accepted, Jon; I've been receiving all the huggage I can handle, and then some. :D As for richardbenson, he's on record as saying that there's no such thing as a hot Aspie woman. As if!

May I offer you a tinned hug? Not as good as a fresh one, but it has a long shelf life. You can put it aside until there's a hug famine, should that ever happen.

^ Excellent, Gromit! There are times when even a friendly bump of the fists is too sloppy-sentimental for my sons to handle, and a tinned hug would come in handy on those occasions. :D

(((((((Sleepydragon)))))))))

I'm back from my husband's dental convention in Hawaii. Wow. Now I know why people like going there. I got to see walking wild a bird (named {random syllables}) that reminded me of a gallinule. There are only a hundred of them left in the world. Breed, bird, breed!
