So. I would ask - where is Sittard in relation to Brabant? I ask mainly because Brabants types on both sides if the Nederland/Belgian border I have met [and characters in the books I have read] are such I would have thought growing up Aspie there is worse than bei uns in the American Midwest.

Sittard is in (Dutch) Limburg, which is East of Belgium (Belgian Brabant and Belgian Limburg) and South-East of Dutch Brabant (called Noord-Brabant). It is right between Belgium and Germany.
I don't know if growing up Aspie here is worse than where you are.
For me it was okay growing up here.

Something well over half of the Nederlands /Vlaams people I have interacted with come, then from your approximate region. The small fraction of my ancestry that tgraces to the low countries [small enough I only found out about them a year ago] were more central before heading for the New World.
