We are waiting to hear back from the lenders still. As for the wedding plans, we are going to keep it simple, since we don't care for making a big splash at our respective ages. Smile
I am still deciding on a dress to wear, since the one I was planning to don on the big day has gotten to small for me ( my fiance is a great cook!) We may have a simple ceremony and then hold a reception at our new house on a later date. My sister bakes cakes professionally, so I may ask her to make ours.
Hope the house deal goes through without a hitch and soon. An exciting but also stressful venture I'm sure.
Weddings have gotten so out of hand these days, and now we have "The Wedding Industry" with their grubby little hands in the till. Ordinary working and middle class people, going along for the ride, trying to imitate royalty and the upper classes, pouring thousands of dollars that they don't have into one day. I think you are wise in keeping your wedding simple and meaningful. A reception at your new house sounds really special too. Wow, you lucked out with a man that cooks and a sister who bakes cakes professionally. How sweet it is.

The honeymoon is still in the dreaming phase, since we are taking on the expense of a house. We are hoping to be invited to Scotland when my fiance's nephew gets married. That will serve as a honeymoon. Cool
In 1959, my husband (17) and I (16) spent our "honeymoon" driving around the backwoods of New Jersey, lost in a borrowed Buick looking for a motel we could afford. We got terribly lost and it was very dark. When we finally found a place it turned out to be much like the Bates Motel. A man appeared from behind a red curtain, checked us in, and announced that the special for the next day was "All the spaghetti you can eat and 1 meatball".

This was pre-Psycho, I think.
Scotland sounds so romantic, but whatever you do or however you choose to spend your honeymoon I wish you all the joy in the world and a never-ending honeymoon together.
