cosmiccat, are you sure that Richie's post was directed at you? He posted it the day after your last entry. I've seen that poster at work. Please don't be upset!

Dear beautiful soul,
If it was not directed at me, then I would request that Richie would state as much, and I would certainly then owe him and give him a well deserved apology. However, I doubt that such a scenario will occur.

Thank you for caring enough to respond and for not wanting me to be upset. Have a sweet day. :D

Hey, how's the new house coming along? Have you made settlement yet? I need to be refreshed about your wedding plans, if you have the time. When will it be? What will you wear? Honeymooning? I'd love to hear all that girl stuff. :)

We are waiting to hear back from the lenders still. As for the wedding plans, we are going to keep it simple, since we don't care for making a big splash at our respective ages. :)
I am still deciding on a dress to wear, since the one I was planning to don on the big day has gotten to small for me ( my fiance is a great cook!) We may have a simple ceremony and then hold a reception at our new house on a later date. My sister bakes cakes professionally, so I may ask her to make ours.

The honeymoon is still in the dreaming phase, since we are taking on the expense of a house. We are hoping to be invited to Scotland when my fiance's nephew gets married. That will serve as a honeymoon. 8)

Hope the house deal goes through without a hitch and soon. An exciting but also stressful venture I'm sure.

Weddings have gotten so out of hand these days, and now we have "The Wedding Industry" with their grubby little hands in the till. Ordinary working and middle class people, going along for the ride, trying to imitate royalty and the upper classes, pouring thousands of dollars that they don't have into one day. I think you are wise in keeping your wedding simple and meaningful. A reception at your new house sounds really special too. Wow, you lucked out with a man that cooks and a sister who bakes cakes professionally. How sweet it is. :D

In 1959, my husband (17) and I (16) spent our "honeymoon" driving around the backwoods of New Jersey, lost in a borrowed Buick looking for a motel we could afford. We got terribly lost and it was very dark. When we finally found a place it turned out to be much like the Bates Motel. A man appeared from behind a red curtain, checked us in, and announced that the special for the next day was "All the spaghetti you can eat and 1 meatball". :lmao: This was pre-Psycho, I think. :chin:

Scotland sounds so romantic, but whatever you do or however you choose to spend your honeymoon I wish you all the joy in the world and a never-ending honeymoon together.

Your posts always make me smile, cosmiccat! Thanks for all your lovely wishes, and I loved the story about the pre-Psycho hotel!

Ahh, this thread was made just for me, another fossil!
Next month is 50 years. Half a century?
How'd I live this long?!
Seriously, between my Crohn's & the Asperger's I either should have died, or someone should have killed me.

if you get to Scotland, do one of these. Worth every penny.

http://www.rabbies.com/ and you can tailor the accommodations to your budget - they'll put you in anything from a hostel to a 5 star hotel (if available) at your request.

saw too many doctors and three movies this past month. It's worth going to see Tintin (very fun little motion-capture romp), Hugo (actually surprisingly well done), and War Horse (bring lots of hankies and no children).

The movies sound good, but not the doctors. How's it going on the health/medical front, Nan? Any news (good, I hope)?

I'd like to know, too! Been thinking about you both.

It was an ironic attempt to separate the holier than thou. ie creating two governing authorities

Matthew 22:21

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

really.

spent the last couple of hours trying to find decent "medic alert" jewelry for the kid - she'll have to wear something to easily identify her problems. the stuff available is so freaking ugly. the best i could find was something that looks like a dogtag with a vinyl surround. she's not thrilled that she has to wear a medic alert thingy, but it's not an option not to, so i'll have to keep looking. i mean, there's no rule that says she can't have several and change them out, like a handbag or a scarf....
