New user Scientist introduces herself
Are you also a professional scientist, or just interested in science?
I will reply the rest of the posts later, I have a train to catch.

Guten tag Scientist,
Thank you for sharing and your introduction lit up the realization that I have yet to add my own on here. So, now I will respond to your intro with quote and then response.
So true and while I will at times include my first name given by my parents, my handle does reflect far more to me than my legal name (of course).
In my case I noticed vast differences between myself and others.
Regardless of the differences between "a bit and "vastly," I emphatically understand what you mean without a doubt.
It's nice to hear you had friends, as for me it was very difficult; I never understood why it was so rather impossible to feel to align closely enough with others.
I'm 33 and it was only 6 months ago that I found my true passion for a lack of a better word at the moment, was that dwelling in psychology. I envy you in that respect! It's a rare thing to hear a tale of another and feel this sensation. Nothing negative in case that is somehow read into the use of envy.
While I am not familiar the program on sensory information and processing and motor control, it sounds like I get the gist. Perhaps I shall research it a bit to understand more.
I was in my last year of my PhD when I became ill, I got a psychosis and a severe depression, from too much stress. Therefore I spent 7 months in psychiatry ward in the hospital in Sittard, in the South of the Netherlands, and after that I lived with my parents for a while.
From a purely selfish side, I'm pleased to see you reached the top side of an even chanced experience. Even more, that I find value in nearly all experiences: good, bad, neutral or not applicable.
Perhaps if we get along, you will permit me to question you here and there on this topic.
On the remaining sides, it's still pleasing to hear such a tale coming out without limb astray or worse.
All that comes to mind is wow, that sounds like a horrendous ordeal. It's refreshing to hear love to describe their desire to do their scientific research.
"Knowing is half the battle!"
That's an old cheesy endline from a cartoon called GI JOE from the 80's after a short scenario that held some moral teaching played.
My interests: science, experimental psychology, psychophysics and music (listening and playing (guitar))
My favourite book: Quirkology, the curious science of everyday lives, by Richard Wiseman
Your title caught my mind and I am very interested in picking the mind of another who enjoys psychology.
Hmm. I lack the energy to try and list off enough to give you enough of a feel overall.
However here are some of my psyche-related interests:
Psychology
Evolutionary Psychology
Addiction (what it is - how to treat it - etc)
Psychedelic-assisted Psychotherapy
Entactogen-assisted Psychotherapy
Pattern seeking
Psycho-spiritual development (no metaphysics)
That's all for the moment!
Be well,
-Psychointegrator

I am a forensic anthropologist. Completed my Honours degree in 2002 in dual majors of Archaeology and Paleoanthropology and i have just finished a Bsc and am now doing my Masters in Paleoanthropology. I guess you could say i have a thing for bones. What do you specialize in?
Thanks for all your nice replies and welcomes!
As you may have noticed, I've added visual arts to my list of interests, since that also has my interest. Not that I produce visual art myself, but I enjoy visiting visual art museums and looking into art books.

Oh, and I wanted to say I like your Avatar, but that's not you, is it? (I saw a picture of the upper half of your face on the picture thread, if I remember correctly) Who is it then?

Yes, pretend it's Brad Pitt, if it helps!? Assume your photo is you, too? ![]()

It is a bit quiet in the topic, when there is a question there are answers, but mostly it is quiet. Sometimes I look on AutSider too, but I feel WP is more suited to my personality and circumstances.
Great, and it can be a nice way to get into working again, since you can vary the hours.
I liked the university as well, but I could not find a position at that time. After a few other things I ended up in an IT company, at first I was afraid I would not fit in. But the structure is okay and I get to follow a lot of courses, something I really like. CBS is a bit difficult to say for me. But you have some time left to make a choice.
Good luck with your thesis and finding a new future.
Oh, I forgot to say thanks for your welcomes, Inventor and richie.

Brad might, for all I know, be a nice guy; I've never met him - have you? Presumably, even those girls that do have him or some other star on their wall, doesn't mean they'd really like them, in real life? ![]()

Yeah, reading around a bit, and welcoming newbies. There's a lot to read here. How about you? Why don't you take off your sunglasses, btw? ![]()

Well, in that case I prefer the sunglasses...
