Animals are incredible. When one thinks of a chicken coop, they'd normally picture the hen teaching the chicks to scratch and forage for food and the rooster roaming loose doing his own thing like defending the territory.
I bought chickens years ago, unfortunately a hawk continued to snatch the yard birds one at a time (including all my ducks

) ... finally, all that was left, was several young chicks, without their mother. Their big brother (the only rooster left from an earlier brood), took over the role of rooster and hen. We caught him in the middle of teaching the young chicks how to forage/scratch for food. They weren't even his chicks...

Yup.. Koi grow to become BIG, if they have plentiful food sources and lots of room to swim.
