That's cool! I'm sure you'll be very happy with a Maine Coon. Dunno about Norwegian Forest Cats, I've never heard of them.

Haha, lentils are indeed tasty! Lentil soup is just awesome. Also, ever tried Morning Star Farms veggie burgers? I loved those growing up as a kid! If you haven't tried them, their Grillers Prime are just mouth-watering. :F Also, what is Quorn mince? Also also, you've only been a veggie for a year? What made you want to quit eating meat?

Thanks for the directions! I shall check the Haven out. Maybe it'll be a good place to vent a little when I get frustrated with this bewildering universe. >.> Well no, I take that back. It's not the universe that's bewildering to me, it's most of the people in it. I'm too enthralled with physics and Carl Sagan to wanna blame my bewilderment on the universe. D:

No offence taken, I've been vegetarian for about a year now. I miss some tastes but I'm lucky that there are substitutes and quick meals available, which wouldn't have been available even three years ago. Quorn mince is great and I'm suprised how good lentils can taste (I eat lots of other stuff though, just in case you get the impression I subsist on junk food :) *giggle*).

The haven is a part of the forum where you can go when you need some support. To find it you move your mouse over the "Community" roll down at the top of the screen and click on "Discussion Forums". Then you get to the list of different forums, the haven's about three forums down in the "Coping with life catagory". <--- Hope that helps you find your way a little :).

Well I don't feel miserable about other people anymore. In a weird twisted way, and I'm not condoning this, you could think of it as all these people affected by a big disorder which causes an irresistable urge to stay social as much as humanly possible by whatever means necessary...

Please, you can rant if you wish :)

I didn't do that much on the video tours, nowhere exotic. I don't feel particularly comfortable revealing more as they are online and in my view they're not particularly great as they were done last year when I was just getting into this.

Indeed. You're also always invited here as I'm there too much and someone else needs to speak up there a bit!

Norwegian Forest cats are believed by some to be one of the breeds that formed the Maine Coon because they were favored by sailors for ships cats, the cats sometimes would leave the ship and not be found before the ship was due to leave and so would stay at the port. Norwegian Forest cats are similar to Maine Coons in appearance but vocalise somewhat differently as far as I understand it but I've only seen one of each at the one cat show I've been to.

I've never heard of Star Farms, I don't think it's available in my country, I'll ask at my local health food shop. Quorn is a meat substitute made from some kind of fungus (it's probably mushroom), eggs and milk. They have chicken, beef and fish style substitutes. I decided to stop eating meat because I started to get ill at the thought of eating an animal.

The Haven is great, there are really kind people there usually who give great advice (if needed). Social skills and making friends is just below the Haven, nice people there too, responses can be slower coming though but also worth going onto if you want to talk about something related to that.

I actually was thinking the exact same thing earlier! About how it's all just what became the dominant trait in society - being super-social to the point of stupidity became what was dominant, what the majority did, and so anything that doesn't fit into that majority is a "disorder." But if we Aspies were the majority, NTs would be the "disorder." >: D Hahaha, I am eeevil.

Nah, I'm all ranted out. XD I don't rant much. I'm a pretty optimistic person! Or at any rate I try to be. I've been very depressed in the past and I don't like to dwell on bad stuff too much now, lest I fall back into it.

It's totally cool if you don't wanna reveal more, I get it. I'm the same way about writing I'm not satisfied with. I hate it when people try to read over my shoulder when I'm still working on something and it sucks! D:

Oh, you've linked me to a place. I have no idea what it is! This is a mystery. D: I will solve it by clicking the link. ... Clean chat? Now where's the fun in that. D: Lol JK, I'll prob'ly post somethin' there. XD

That's cool, they do look similar. I have never been to a cat show! Is it full of yowling, or do the cats stay fairly quiet?

Haha, Quorn sounds kinda weird! But I have eaten something weirder during my period as a vegetarian - BG bites. Guess what those are: BLUE GREEN ALGAE. They are sweets made of ALGAE. D: (And no, they don't taste that good.) I can relate to getting ill at the thought of eating an animal, even nowadays - like after I saw Fast Food Nation, I couldn't eat meat for a week. I'm still pretty sensitive toward what animals go through, but I've got the logic that, if the animal's already dead, me eating it won't cause it any more harm. Plus, animals eat animals. Even if nobody ate meat, we'd still have to kill livestock and fish to feed our cats (though apparently dogs can go entirely veg, I've heard).

There's a section about social skills on here? I'd love to check that out! Maybe it can provide some clarity. XD

It depends on the cat but most are quiet, I think breeders (who are the majority of owners there) seem to choose cats that are fairly calm for shows. A lot of them just slept, probably due to the heat of the room. The place was packed with people, I suppose that wouldn't be supprising though because there are very few cat shows in Ireland. Happily, I was so wrapped up in seeing the cats that I didn't feel my usual level of people claustrophobia (I have no problem with tight spaces, just people). The ones that weren't sleeping looked really bored.

Quorn tastes nice enough, it's useful too because it's easy to directly substitute the chicken and beef style Quorn for the meat recipies. I respect a person's right to choose what they want to do with their lives. Personally, I don't feel comfortable eating animals.

Cats are obligate carnivores so it would be very difficult to put a cat on a vegetarian diet, it's possible but the amount of different nutrients needed means that it's much easier to just give them meat (unless a person has a Masters in food science) and then there's the fact that there's some things that humans and dogs can synthisise from plant matter that cats can't. It's not impossible but it's hard to know if it's properly balanced and when it's not properly balanced the cat dies (or have kidney failure) within a few months. I wouldn't risk my cats life (or any cats life) because of my choice. Although, I've read that cooking damages most of these nutrients and artificial versions of the nutrients are added to all comercial cat food.

I don't know how accurate what I've read is though, I've read about cats living and surviving on a vegetarian diet as well but I know how some vegetarians and vegans have very strong views and would fear the possibility of people lying and justifying it to themselves. I have researched nutritional information regarding cats and it's really complex, I read and re-read about it but I can't fully understand it all. Perhaps they'll learn how to grow meat from cells in Petri dishes some time in the future.

I don't have my stuff online, and I'd rather keep it that way. I guess I could email you the first chapter of my book, if you're interested? It's about this place called the dream realm, where people go when they sleep. It's a scifi/comedy/drama. Does that sound up your alley? What sort of things do you like to read about?

OK, I chose invisible because I think it would be fun to observe, guess I'll have to walk.

I love to read and you love to write, Do you have a blog or someplace you put your writings?

My favorite is Epic Fantasy with SciFi as a close second, I'd love to read the first chapter of your book.
I like the kind of book that takes you to another place, a dream realm sounds fun.

Hey LaydeeWriter:

What sort of writing have you done prior to your current book?

Also, what would you say are your major influences? Are you much of a reader?

I'm a quasi-writer myself and adore books and am always interested in others who relate! Plus you sound interesting!

Yeah, I don't feel my usual level of people-claustrophobia at places where I've got piqued interest either. ; ) Stuff like art and history museums and gem and mineral shows are the sorts of places where I feel pretty calm! But then again, neither of those places are terribly packed, I suppose...

Your attitude toward your lifestyle and other people's lifestyles is refreshing! I wish more people thought like you about that sort of thing. I'm the same way, unless someone chooses to spend their life being nasty to other people. : )

You sound like you know a lot about animal nutrition! I honestly don't know a lot about it but I find it interesting. Biology, medicine, and the way living creatures function has always been a subject of interest for me. It is all so bizarre! Also, it would indeed be great if a way were developed to grow meat cells in petri dishes - not just so we don't have to kill animals to have meat, but think of the medical applications. We could probably figure out how to form whole, functional human organs and body-parts for transplant if we could figure out how to grow bacon!

OH, and I forgot to mention - there is swearing. I'm not sure if there's swearing in the first chapter, but there is in the following chapters at least. Is that okay? I don't wanna send you something you'll cringe at! D:

If that's okay, can you PM me with an email address I can send it to?

Oh, prior to my current book, let's see ... well, I started and never finished a scifi/comedy novel that was mostly about this really neurotic, antisocial math major who gets abducted by aliens. The aliens are totally awesome party-animals and they conduct brain surgery on him, removing something called an "inhibitive cortex." He becomes incredibly happy and confident - and totally insane. He also develops telekinetic powers called "thoughtform" that make anything he believes is real become real - as you can imagine, with chaotic results. It was a pretty funny book but the writing wasn't very good! I've improved a LOT since then.

Before that, I mostly wrote short stories, first chapters of books that never went beyond that, and poems. Oh, and FANFICS. I wrote a lot of fanfics. Basically everything I've ever written has had some comedy elements and a lot of fantasy/scifi.

Hmm, major influences. Interestingly enough, most of my major influences are NOT books, but just stuff I like a lot: One Piece, Homestuck, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Coraline, just, if I really really like something, I like to figure out why and then incorporate what I learned into how I write. All those things are stories, and a story doesn't need to be written for a writer to learn from it! Suffice it to say that, no, I'm not much of a reader compared to most writers - I prefer to spend a lot of time on my own writing.

What about you? You sound interesting as well! What sort of things do you like to read? To write? Who are your influences?
