I'll have to clarify this one (I'm online a lot more of the time than Lisa if there's only one computer around). We are both from New Zealand, however our parents immigrated here from Holland during the Cold War because of the position the other European countries were towards Russia (namely pointing their nukes at them), and so they moved to NZ.

The Germany thing comes along because right now we're on holiday! We've popped over into Germany for a few days.

I can add to Tequila's reply that it gets it's name from a former tradition of
Christmas 'boxes' (presumably of gifts) being given to household employees and suchlike

BTW,there were also mentions of Russia and I recently discovered they actually celebrate Christmas on the 7th January.One of my work colleagues is Russian and she happened to mention it. Starbuline,I'm not surprised that you take an interest in Russia as I'm learning there's a lot that we in the west don't know about it !
