Well, if you were leaving someone's house, you'd tell them right? Otherwise they'd wonder where the heck you went!

I used to do what was called 'the quick fade,' KBABZ
It means 'poof' you are gone.
Now that I look back on it, I see how normal folks would see it, but I thought everyone forgot what was going on just a few moments ago if things changed enough.

who knew they cared if I left?

*award*

If I were leaving, I would say that I was, so that they'd know WHY I was doing so.

I'd just vanish into the dust - and then come back when my work was done.

Nope. Doesn't work for me either. I do tend to stay until a certain point (usually when I'm bored), then leave.
There's little point in saying I'm going (unless fire regulations are involved).
There's no point in trying to say why I'm going, because I wouldn't know the answer to that myself.

Hi Roygerdodger I read all your past posts. Which has been not many and mostly pretty
short. You mentioned in one post that you thought you did not have aspergers because
you do not have poor social skills.

But in this thread you said:

Roygerdodger wrote:

Every time I read a post about how to have good social skills, it's just nothing but random fluff instead of advice.

Your old post:

Social skills are not something that can be learned online. So I would not expect to much help in that area. Seeing a therapist might be more helpful if you have real needs
for such training.

Sorry if I don't understand this, but why do you have to advertise the fact that you are leaving. If you don't feel comfortable here or you can't find what you want or need just don't sign on here any more.

I think that by telling others that you are leaving you want to see if anyone will care and try and stop you. Halloooo! It's an Aspie place. Do you think anyone, even if they do care they come out and say that???

This is not like a club where someone notes your presence or absense. Each is here because it's a place to feel between countrymen and countrywomen. We are all and each one here because we feel we share some common bond. Stay if you als feel that, go if you don't.

I understand why people advertise the fact that they are thinking about leaving. It's usually because they want to talk about it.

If you get anything out of being here roygerdodger, then it would be a pity if you leave. It takes a while to settle down and maybe you will find you do have things in common with other members.

I don't get some of the posts and threads here, so I just ignore those. :)

perhaps you are correct, then Dodger. Perhaps you don't have anything in common with the other members. Perhaps you are not even realizing that you are stringing everyone out here because you might assume that other people know more than you do about why you do things and are waiting for one of us to put our finger on exactly what is bugging you.

If you not having anything in common with other members here, perhaps you are normal and not like us at all!

(does THAT make it all better?)

OK, I get your point roygerdodger. I was just saying that you might find you have, if you stick around, it took me a while, anyway. I'm not going to argue with you, LOL. You have been here for a while so I am assuming you get something out of it?

Of course not! Watching someone contradict themselves repeatedly is always worth a laugh. I took him seriously, briefly, then humourously, or was it the other way round? I decided not to say anything more to him, as he wasn't listening.

Okay, for those who STILL don't get why, Imagine that I left. No reason. I was gone for a week, no explanation, zap, gone. People'd wonder why. That's what a leaving thread is for. It's just a public announcement. "Oh, just in case you're wondering, I'm leaving WP. Here's your chance to say your goodbyes and wish me well." I'd sure as anything make one of those if I ever left for whatever reason.

KBABZ, No one is saying anything against what you are saying. You'd do a leaving thread? OK. Fine. I think I wouldn't. A matter of taste. Strictly speaking, neither of us can be sure of which way we'd jump, as I suspect neither of us is going to leave soon, anyway. :)

What I think has bothered people here, is the weirdness involved. Check the posts. It's not long now until he'll have posted more in the days since insisting that he was leaving than he had in the months before (first) saying that.

To use an analogy... someone is just leaving your house. They put their coat on. You escort them to the door. It's snowing outside. You invite them to stay over. They say no. Then they talk about how deep the snow is. Then they say maybe they will stay. Then they say they're going after all. Then they're not sure. All this while, you're standing in you shirtsleeves out on the doorstep getting frozen stiff.
