Several of you have asked questions about me.

Well, I consider myself very high functioning; the fact that I can interact with NT clients well enough to practice law speaks to that.

My practice: I do wills and probate, I have small-business clients, and I have a number of clients in entertainment -- authors, musicians, and filmmakers. No wildly successful entertainment clients yet, unfortunately!

As for being popular in the work and parenting forums, let me make one very important thing very clear: nothing I say on WrongPlanet.net is legal advice, and no professional relationship can be deemed to exist between myself and anyone else based on anything I say here. Besides, I don't do family and employment law, and while (perforce) I have some exposure to mental health law, it's not a specialty of mine either.

I'm also not a trial lawyer, neither civil nor criminal.

Well, see you around!

Excellent and welcome to the board. I am new here too so I am happy you joined as well. I have a degree in Law too. I chose the subject because I could easily take on board the case law facts and dates. Plus it was fun.

After my degree I wrote out 100 applications but didn't post any. I decided that I wasn't capable of dealing with the public in such a face to face manner. I had already worked in a shop before and this often led to awkard situations. I may have considered property law since it is relatively self-involved.

I often wonder if I had posted those applications off what my life would have been like. I know I would have achieved several offers - I am very good at interviews because I tend to memorise some quality answers to the popular questions. I also learned that making the interviewer do all the talking would often get you the job - people love talking about themselves and it means I don't have to. I wouldn't have been financially better off - my friends who became fully practising lawyers earn the same as me and they didn't have social issues!

I can understand why you wouldn't want to give legal advice, I would never give legal advice to people. Mainly because it isn't my profession, I haven't kept up to date with the law and because if I were to be wrong people can legally sue for poor advice even if it wasn't mean't in a professional capacity (unless you explicitly state that it isn't the inference always tends to be against your favour).

Wow, welcome aboard. Nice to see someone that actually managed to get into something I had wanted to be when I grew up. Of course, I aspired to go into Criminal Law though or dealing wtih politics. Funny thing is honestly I wouldn't have been able to do either due to issues with public speech (I'd freeze). I love reading stuff about law and all. Out of a class of 30 students in grade 12, I scored the highest in my law class, had a 90 in the course. It fascinated me I even asked the teacher (went to law school but he never did the bar exam instead he wanted to teach law) to assign me extra work in the course as I love researching law as well as medical science stuff. I likely could have done para-legal or medical research assistant. Heh. :)
