My family thinks I’m very weird, I live in a country where people aren’t very acceptable pretty much to everything. Even if you’re from another town you’ll get racism hate. It’s hard to live in an environment where you aren’t accepted , constantly hated and scapegoated. Your niece OP will probably see you as an older person they must respect. I doubt that if your family is completely fine that they will turn out to dislike you
