I wanted to add a little side note about the eye contact thing, my sister saying lack of eye contact would be a diagnostic criteria, my husband making eye contact without seeing...
My husband was telling me that he met and had a discussion with a particular computer programmer who has done great things and achieved some notoriety. I had been admiring this guy's work from afar, so I was really excited and wanted to know all about it, what the guy was like, etc. And as my husband's description progressed, I started recognizing the Asperger's profile. I asked, "Does he make eye contact?" There was a pause.
"How should _I_ know?" my husband said.
Much laughter ensued.
