My hands are used for sledgehammers and heavy industrial stuff. I doubt your hands could be that bad. . .

Stlf the dermatitis is caused by your ring. I have the same trouble especially if I use high perfume soaps or the anti-bacterial soaps. I usually have to take it off and let it heal for a while. It all depends on the alloy they use with the gold and also the number of carats. If it is 10 carat gold, you will have more problems.

I reckon if you didn't put your face in the frame, especially with that expression, they probably would've been less creepy
