I already have. I love this place! So many helpful people! :D We were so happy to get a diagnosis for him. I started a thread in the parents discussion on how to help him, and I am so glad I did!! All of the responses have been wonderful! Then my son knows about this too. It's been helpful to him and an eye opener. He's been grounded for the past week about homework issues, not bringing it home or not completing it, so that's why he's not been posting. Hopefully he will find someone on here to give him ideas that help him better.

Thank you for the welcome!

I wish I could have had WP when I was 13. I was diagnosed at age 13 in 1995, I didn't even know what the internet was then! If I could have had a site like this through my school years, I would have been a great help and support, if just for my own self esteem. I'm just glad I have it now...even if I had to discover it at the grand old age of 21!

Your spelling is fine! As long as we can read it its okay! My son (12 years old and also a member on this site) has a learning disabilty in written expression. Its a pain! He uses Dragon software to write his reports. It saves him a lot of time. It saves me a lot of time too....I used to type his reports for him.

His spelling has gotten better now because he plays a lot of role playing games on the computer like "Pirate Puzzle" and Runescape. Communicating with others was a strong modivator for him.

What games other than Halo do you like? My older son likes Halo too.

Welcome Josh,

I would not worry about spelling too much. I think we all make mistakes. In fact, I remember working for IBM and most of my group could not spell either

I have one questions though. Your mother wanted some input about homework and told us what the issue was but I want your input. What do you think the problem with homework is and what do you think would help you in making sure you complete your homework? I am not advocating that someone does the work for you. I am advocating that someone makes sure you have the materials you need so that you can get the work done.

Welcome Josh! Don't worry too much. I used to do that to until I got into high school and had teachers always asking me for papers when they were due (and still asking for them a week after!). Maybe if you got a large organizer-folder that you could put all your homework in for different classes... that might help.

And don't worry too much about the spelling thing. Not everyone here can spell correctly (and even I do not spell every word perfectly, despite being a scribe of Rivendell), so we'll forgive you for that. Your presence is welcome here at WP anytime (except when you're supposed to be asleep or in school!). ;)

Covenent,

There is a possible solution to discuss with your mother. It does not sound like you do not want to do your HW. It sounds like you have problems remembering that you need to take your HW home with you.
