And you have to put in your exact birthday, why? You can get it close and not have it exact.

I wonder how many were born on the same day, month and year I was. Now the older I get the less there are with this date. I might start to worry when I hit a hundred, I might be trackable then. Shheezus christmas, think!! Oh yeah, if I really think I'm going to hit a hundred, I best start doing a little myself.

There other trackers that you might better worry about other then putting your birthday down. If you're really really young then I'd be more concerned. If you're that young, your parents better be looking over your shoulder where ever you are on the net, or anywhere else for that matter.

It's not my "real" birthday either...just the right year, and a date which is meaningful, so people can ballpark. You'll notice I only have my state of residence listed, not the city. Besides that though...unless you have your given name posted, how is someone going to find/track you? Anyhow, I was just wondering WHY. I don't have my full name posted either, because what I'm called by has no bearing on my life. My geographical location and age have affected my life, just as my diagnosis has.

I wrote what I did because of those your topic would normally attract. Some probably hadn't thought of actually lying. I think sometimes it important to have a round house figure of who you're talking to. I would not speak to a 9 year old like I would a 65 year old.

You are right there. There are those people who either need to omit all info, or will be absolutely truthful. That's why I've started calling it "uncommon" sense. (And I don't mean that to be insulting.) It's the people who put "The land of Narnia" as their location and "111" as their age that this was more directed to.

I tried running a google search on WP for "TwoByFour" and as an unpleasant surprise, one of the results showed my full name. That result pointed to my WP "blogview" . I have now edited my profile so that the only information in there is my first name...I never expected or wanted this information to be shown anywhere.

Although I don't care that most of you know who I am, I do not want this information to pop up for people who google me to investigate my past.

I don't see how my age and location is relevant tbh

If I lived in a big city I'd PERHAPS examine an option to post also its name here besides a short, dry information "Poland" but taking into consideration this simple fact I am an inhabitant of a small town and that I have already given quite a lot pieces of information about myself (once I posted for instance the name of the city where I was born, the region of country I live in, some details about college I attend, some stories that happened to me) I am not going to be recognised.

I don't want to get too specific because I don't want to get PMs from guys who assume that just because I am female, have been diagnosed with AS and live near them, I should feel obligated to send them pics of myself and meet them in person with the expectation of dating. That used to happen sometimes when my location was more specific, even though I mentioned my boyfriend frequently in posts.

I also don't want to be definitively identified were someone I know in real life to find me here. I know it's unlikely, but it is possible.

For both of the above reasons, I don't want to post a picture either.

Sometimes it's not simply an "aversion".

There are some younger children posting on these boards and i'm sure many others. Their parents may not want them to disclose their age or location for safety reasons, even though the children may want to.
Protecting your kids, all part of being a parent. :P

As for adults who don't want to post their age and location...well, it's not necessary anyway. This is JUST an internet discussion board, not a list for jury service or a job application. People have a choice, a personal choice as to why they will or will not display age and location...it's not others rights to HAVE to know what their reasons are.

I only list the town if it is a place that is easily recognizable. The reason is that I do want to meet other Aspies, but if it's a town that not very many people have heard of, I will just put a generic area, to be more inclusive.

For example, in lieu of putting "Wichita Falls, Texas" (which doesn't have any Aspies, even if I tweaked the location to include Lawton, Oklahoma, which is just across the state line), I just put "North Texas", which would also include the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex, and would also include adjacent areas in Oklahoma (Lawton, Ardmore, Waurika, etc.)

In August, I am moving to San Marcos, which is between Austin and San Antonio, and thus, would be more recognizable.

Yeah...I guess some people though don't want to meet other possible kindred souls in person (like you and I desire). I mean, all people know is I'm 27 and live in Indiana. It really isn't much. Also, my full name isn't on here, and I've googled many combinations of my WP "info" and this site has never come up (if I use google ON WP, it's different...but someone outside the community would have to know I was a member, or even an Aspie to find me here).

Yeah, one has to use discretion in regards to this, but not necessarily be terrified.

Yet when you live in a town where you're 100 miles from the nearest big city, you have very few options.

Age and majority topic

I have stated my age on many forums and posts and also my location. One time a young man asked my age, thinking I was around his age (he stated his at 32 years). My oldest daughter is 34. This tells you I am not in my thirties. I have stated my vital stats in the forum "Getting to know each other, Dino-Style." :)
