Wow. An Earthly anthropologist on Wacktose? What’ll they think of next?
Are you sure you‘re not an Aspie? NTs are not allowed to come out of the box, let alone out of the solar system.

True, I am a culture of One. It's a huge spectrum.

About that crush – be direct but non-threatening. (I know nothing about the gay thing, I’m just thinking in general.) Beyond the lack of social skills, I remember phases when I was hesitant to believe that anyone could be interested in me. Damaged goods and all that. I was pretty dense sometimes.

I’m not so sure that an aversion to touching is such a big deal. I suspect that it is not as common as it seems. I don’t know that it would be possible to take a scientific survey that would be meaningful. In general, I’m famous for not liking hugs, but it’s complicated. It depends on who, how, when, where and why.
And none of that is relevant in a dating situation, once you’ve broken the ice. (An insensitive clod who grabs at the wrong things, even if we’ve been married for twenty years, is offensive. A non-threatening hug from a honey is good.)

BOO!

Wow. Are you still here? Are you sure you’re an NT?

*giggles!!*

Aw Tahitiii you're funny. :)

Is it really that weird to like aspies? Almost every single one of you seem so cute...sweet...I want to poke you...

Also a lot of you are VERY physically attractive. Like, I would say more than the average population (judging by the member photos).

There must be something the matter with me! >_< I don't know. I guess I find "normal" to be boring. And I like an intellectual challenge. And I like playfulness, especially playing with language. And I like people who are passionate. So I guess that all relates to aspie stuff, right?

At the same time I'm really really emotionally expressive...so I would have a hard time being close to someone who couldn't express their emotions well. But I'm also good at reading between the lines, so...we'll see.

Alright, stalker alert:

I searched this girl's name, city, and "Asperger's" and found her on another dating site where I could message her, teehee! So this is what I wrote:

OK so this may be kind of weird but...

I really liked your profile on Chemistry, and hated that I couldn't e-mail you there, so I found your profile on here! ^_^

Anyway I just wanted to say...you seem absolutely fascinating. I love reading what you write. And you're absolutely stunning too.

I'd really love to get to know you better. Check out my profile and let me know ok?

Eww...I just realized I repeated the word absolutely twice. :( Now she won't liiiiiike me. :(

Anyway, but what do you think? Is it direct enough? Not too intimidating? ...it's been two hours and she hasn't responded! *tears her hair out* It's been a really long time since I've had a crush this huge. I don't know what the deal is! I need to go eat cake and calm down...

It's been 2 whole hours? Maybe she doesn't spend quite as much time online as you! Maybe she's on holiday! Maybe she can only check her accounts every few days! Maybe the sugar in your cake is making you hyper! ;)

Good luck though, I know how frustrating it is waiting for a reply from someone who seems like they could be a good match. I also know that often they don't always live up to expectations in real life so don't be too upset if she doesn't reply. I liked your message though, friendly and not too full-on - sit back & fingers crossed!

Hey, Tiffani! Welcome to WP. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I think it's awsome that you want to work in Forensic Linguistics. I love forensic stuff because I watch a lot of CSI and Bones ^^U.

As a tip, sometimes kids with ASDs will have difficulty speaking (which you've no doubt already come across in your quest into Autism study) but on ocassion we will mix up 'I' and 'you' and 'me' or 'we'. I know I do sometimes XD.

To exspalain further, when we learn to talk, other people say 'I' to describe themselves, so an Autistic might missinterprit that to mean 'I' = persons who are not me'.
Likewise, when someone is talking about, or to, me they say 'you'. Therefore 'you =person who is me'.

You won't see that much here on WP, but I've read about it in personal parental acounts and witnessed it in my own language.

Lol, you think we're cute -that's great! I don't think I've ever met anyone like that -^^-. Usually people just think we're weird and avoid us or verbaly abuse us. This is a nice switch ^^.

You sound cool 8)

This is just me, but maybe fairly typical. Light touch is horrifying, like a spider walking on you. Firm, definite touch is great, unless it's somebody you dislike, of course.

Also, the literal-minded thing is highly variable between individuals. Be warned, some of us have a strange, unorthodox sense of humor.

Good luck.

Did you say that wasn't proper? Did you march out on the track?
You were quiet, just like mice. And now you say that we're not nice.
Well thank you buddy for your advice...

Hi - I thought I would offer my input to this equation you wish solving.

The use of the word "absolutely" twice? No problem, I am one for noticing stuff like this and found nothing wrong with it.

I have "nerves of steel" but I jump when someone touches me on my sides, my ex-gf said I was ticklish. Did say I never liked it. Oh well...

I think the use of sarcasm may best be avoided, I am presuming (I don't like to presume much) that it would be better to ascertain her level of humour to see if you can use a level which is compatible with hers to which you both can enjoy.

A rule of thumb for touching is always "if they pull back, don't treat it like rejection move onto something else" (I am referring to hugs, and the like)

Maybe it's best to start with a friendship first?

 Helping others with relationship issues and I am still single - pah!!

It's not just you. I don't like light touch either. ^^

I'm also litteral minded -when I was little people would say 'catch 22' and I'd think '22 of what?'
