I also realized there was a reason why I am the way I am from reading a piece in the New York times, and later on, one in the New Yorker, whether it's the same article I don't know. I did connect with the articles, but I had never heard of AS before this. By now I 've done more reading and feel that I share many of the traits of others with AS, but obviously, I found out way late, have always been underemployed, and could not make my track in life work very well because I was never communicating well enough. NOw that I realize what the problems are it doesn't make them go away, but i know why I have them, so I guess that's okay. I also realize I have a lot more than I thought probably but I'm just trying to deal with it one step at a time. I'm glad for this site though as it allows me to write and read about stuff/problems/interests that I might not realize others share.
Thanks all for the nice welcome - asplanet, jul, Tim Tex, CelticRose, tomamil, gray_imagination, JetLag, malithion 2, JerryHatake, Pobodys Nerfect, AnnaLemma, and autism. Eleven contacts, one spoonerism, very auspicious. I know I'll learn a lot from you and hope I have something to give. I already feel this obligation to find some way to be helpful to the AS & autism communities.
If your heart keeps beating, life ain't too bad. Cheers ~S
