Quote:
What is your first name? Sibyl :D oddly enough!

Age: 65

Location: Kansas

Hobbies and Interests: Probably too many to list. Church, (Episcopalian), Science Fiction+ all other reading possible-- the internet is a Godsend to me, Science of all sorts, including the Social Sciences, needlework, music, politics, my pets, -- I guess that's enough.

Why are you here? Asperger's, cyclical Clinical Depression

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): last year: 2008, actually, with the Aspergers. I've known about the Depression and coped with it for about forty years now. It's easier with the modern antidepressants.

Favorite subjects: see above

Year/Grade: n/a: graduated from High School, some college, no Bachelor's

Favorite music: Classical, Jazz, older rock, folk

Books: LOL! yes. Crowding me out of my house, and favorites wouldn't be possible, too many.

TV shows/Movies: I don't go to movies any more, too crowded. See some on television, but I don't have cable or satellite, only 6 or 7 channels of broadcast. I like "Bones" and "Monk"-- one guess why! Also CSI's

Instrument: Piano, clarinet (not for years) recorder, guitar, mountain dulcimer, banjo once upon a time, but not lately.

Do you like sports? no

Family: I have a grown daughter, a son-in-law, a granddaughter, and forty zillion cousins. Was married for thirteen years.

Clothing: sweatsuits, mostly, since I retired. "Duster" dresses in summer, or t-shirts and culottes. Dresses or pantsuits when called for.

How did you find this website? URL in a book about Asperger's: don't remember which

Job: When I was working, I held a lot of different jobs, never one for long at a time.

Plans for the future? Getting older until I die-- see above on "interests"

Any comments? probably will be some coming along as I respond to more threads.

What is your first name? Emma

Age: 42

Location: Berlin, Germany

Hobbies and Interests: reading, sudoku, horseriding, rock and metal concerts

Why are you here? Because I'm tired of always getting it "wrong" and need to feel Im not alone

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): early 70's. My mother told me in 1984 that the doctor had diagnosed me autistic when i was a small child.

Favorite subjects: law, jurisprudence,medicine,biology

Year/Grade: doing a doctorate in biotech law

Favorite music: metal/rock

Books: both fiction and factual science books. I prefer literature written by women as it tends to be clearer at explaining how and why people feel and act.

TV shows/Movies: CSI Vegas, Grey's Anatomy, Amelie, Donnie Darko

Instrument: Flute

Do you like sports? Yes, but not team sports, never got the hang of them. Running, tennis, horseriding, swimming, canoeing. My only problem is motivating myself to get out the house...

Family: Not really any more. More than half the family are aspergers or fully autistic -it can blow a family apart as many people here will know.

Clothing: normally jeans and T shirt but im getting an interest in 40s style dresses and shoes, and making my appearance a bit more of a project. Right now im in pyjamas.

How did you find this website? cant recall, probably googled something about autism/aspergers

Job: student again. I used to work in computers- tech support, but it got boring, less analytical.

Plans for the future? some sort of post teaching/researching in Biotech Law

Any comments? Recently, one too many persons has commented on how great it is that I do X Y or Z and dont care how odd it looks- when I didnt realise what I was doing could be considered odd. I dont want to change who I am, but I think I just want to be here to reassure myself that the neurotypical norms arent everything...
