is your room always red?

by the way, you guys can use an already existing video as a video response. You just click "post a video response" to my video and then choose "use already uploaded video."

i don't think his room is always red, it's probably just bad lighting, that kinda stuff happens alot with my digital camera.

I was just jokin about the red. I'm uploading two new videos for you guys that i'll post once they've finished processing.

I really liked your video and agree with much of what you say. I don't think my son would necessarily be happier without autism. He is very mildly affected, though. I'm glad there isn't a test during pregnancy because we'd end up without a certain number of brilliant and interesting people who just don't happen to conform or fit within a certain bell curve that much of society would prefer. If we could find a way to help, really help, the things that are genuinely unpleasant for the autistic person without taking away the creativity that would be a great thing. Right now it seems the best thing for it is just a support network of people who really care.

I can sort of feel for the woman with the 5 year old if her child wasn't getting the right care and the woman didn't have support. But being a doctor, you'd think she could actually PAY for a lot more help than I can. So maybe she doesn't have much of an excuse. I have no trouble finding support. I go out looking for people whose kids have autism and I find them in abundance. Most are really struggling. I'm fortunate that my son is in a fabulous school that has skilled staff who help him learn the things he needs to learn without taking away his self esteem or dignity. They appreciate his creativity and his interesting perspective and like him for who he is. They also help him make friends and learn to interact because this is something he will definitely need when I am gone. I just happen to be very lucky at the moment, I think. I'm pretty sure there are only 6 people like me in this gigantic school district.

I liked the outdoor setting. I used to live in Baltimore so seeing DC is like being in my old "stomping grounds".

I just made my next video, i need to edit it so it's the right type of file and then i will send it to youtube...
it's nothing much, you don't even see me it's just me drawing a creature i made up called an IHT... it's like a rabbit with Giant ears and floppy skin. i have been doing lots of weird drawings like that recently, i'll upload some sometime...

Why the negativity?! How do you know these folks can't amount to anything outside of the internet? If you're here participating does that not make you one of us? I'm here because I'm raising a kid with asperger syndrome. Some folks are here because they have it. People don't have to go through difficult times alone so they come here. If people find help here, feel good here, what difference does that make to you?

Believe it. I do. I'm here because I've met vitally interesting people here, and because I've raised a kid with Asperger's, and he's neat, and creative, and brilliant, and I'm not the only one who says that. Dealing with this guy is like teaching a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time because you just get all dirty and it only annoys the pig.
now if you don't mind, i will return to my daily set of doodling "ihts" and "wropes", and a new one i just made up called a "whiz"
