Why are you here? Because my mommy and daddy liked each other alot and 9 months later.... Actually I am here because my son got diagnosed and the doctor who diagnosed him (didn't know I was an aspie) said there were websites for this.

What is your first name?
Pete

Age:
30

Location:
West Midlands, UK

Hobbies and Interests:
Cars - specifically Volvo V70s, UK Number Plates, Running, Cats, Music, Walking

Why are you here?
This is the nearest thing to normality in a confusing and fustrating world.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Self diagnosed August 2005, currently undergoing psychiatric assessment for a formal diagnosis. Also dx with depression, social phobia, ezcema, asthma, reflux. Probably add OCD to that too at some point.

Favorite music:
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, also adore practically anything else, especially 80s/90s indie, R.E.M., and much more.

Books:
All of Iain M Bank's sci-fi novels (but not his Iain Banks non-genre books), particularly the Culture novels. Stephen King also very cool. Until WikiPedia came along, encyclopedias were right up there too.

TV shows/Movies:
Mad Max triology for fave movies, Scrapheap Challenge is fave TV show closely followed by Top Gear.

Instrument:
I've been known to make dreadful sounds from a guitar until people begged me to stop. Since losing my guitar room to my kid, I've had to put the guitars in the loft. :(

Do you like sports?
Only non-competive, e.g. running on own.

Family:
Married with 1 kid.

Clothing:
Often, except when I'm in the shower or bath. Hmm, baths are nice.

How did you find this website?
Searching for info on Asperger's.

Job:
IT programmer, specialising in Oracle.

Plans for the future?
Master the art of happiness

Any comments?
If you PM me, don't be offended if I take days to respond - I'm just very slow sometimes! :)

Age: 30

Location: Memphis, TN

Hobbies and Interests: Spirituality, music, computer games, beanie babies, shopping (when I have the money, which is rarely  ), interior design, communicating on the Internet, travel (hope to travel abroad someday), politics, making art, and nature.

Why are you here? I found out that I have Asperger's Syndrome this year. I always thought I was broken, defective and didn't belong in this world. I couldn't figure out why but I knew intuitively I was different......and so did everyone else, which alienated me even more. I love coming here because I can identify with everyone here and for the first time, because of the support I've gotten on WP, I love myself and would tell off anyone who tried to make me "normal".

When were you diagnosed? I've never had a formal diagnoses, although I have discussed it with my psychiatrist and therapist who say it would be very difficult to get an accurate one since I've learned to compensate for communication and sensory difficulties. I have, however, been diagnosed with severe depression and social anxiety disorder after being hospitalized when I was 16 years old and again last year after a serious break-down.

Favorite subjects: Politics, sociology, astronomy, art, choral music, world history and architecture.

Year/Grade: Graduated from university in 1999.

Favorite music: Christian/Gospel, pop, R&B and rock.

Books: "It" and "The Stand" by Stephen King, "Conversations With God" by Neal Walsh and all Michael Moore books.

TV shows/Movies: Chapell's Show, Desperate Housewives, Oprah, Star-Gate SG1, Shindler's List, Aliens and Coming to America.

Do you like sports? I love watching figure skating and gymnastics....but not doing them. I do like to rollerblade, ride my bike, hike and want to learn how to surf even though I'm in a land-locked town. :(

Family: Three sisters, two brothers and many cousins (I've lost count.)

Clothing: More skirts, capris and dresses than pants because my legs are very long and women's pants....aren't. I have only a few shoes as I wear a size 10 in footwear and have an extremely narrow foot, necessitating the need for all shoes to have adjustable straps or laces just so they won't slip off my feet. My head is as big around as some people's waists so I don't bother with hats.

How did you find this website? One of the members on another message board mentioned WP and gave a link.

Job: Currently working temp jobs. Of course every job I've ever had was a "temp" job because I always get layed off.

Plans for the future? I want to have a good-paying, none-stressful job that lasts more than three minutes so I can build a little something for retirement and also want to relocate to another city, possibly one overseas.
