I live just as far north and east as you van possiply come in norway. I can see Russia across the river from my room. Right now its supposed to be snow and all, but its raining and it feels a bit like early spring. Havent seen snow for many weeks now. And in the southern parts of norway they complain about all the snow.

Cool, sounds very groovy and exotic. Its 23 Celsius here and the middle of the night. I am busy watching Red Dwarf while procrastinating on cleaning out the cat litter before going to bed. Not quite as nice sounding as Norway.

Pof, minus 47*C. That's harsh.

Q; Do you have the Northern Light phenomena where you live? (probs yes but.... ) And also days where the sun don't set in Summer and in the midst of Winter it doesn't even show up?

Wow, that's pretty amazing.. (.. um, giving myself 'rhetorical' answers here).

And to comment on your beaut.... nah, that would be overdoing things, I reckon.

I live at the complete opposite end of D0ds0t, it's far from that cold here, it didn't snow as much as it used to, also, the Southern Norway landscape is more interesting too, with more mountains that are capable of ski and snowboarding tournaments, if you go north, it's becomes more flat.

Just a few facts, but this is so off topic

Yes, I have the northern light right above my head! But it becomes much more clear when it gets colder. And the midnight sun too. 3 months without sunset. And about 3 moths without sunrise. From around the 15th of november to 25th of february the sun never shows above the horizon.

What's it like living in the dark for months and not seeing the sun?

when I was little I didnt think too much about it. But when I moved away from home to the middle parts of norway I got used to see the sun every day during the winter, but then I didnt have the midnight sun. So now that Im back up north I get really really tired now. It gets dark around 2pm and I am readt to go sleep at 5. And I can sleep for at least 15 hours. And it gets light again around 9 in the morning. And it isnt ever in the darkest season yet.

I'm from Central Norway. It's currently something like +1 1/2 degrees Celsius and it's been a very dry fall/autumn, without any rain or mild weather at all. It wasn't like this at all when I grew up, then it rained all october and if it didn't rain until november 20th, the snow came earlier. Last year it was cold and dry without anything else than frost until early February when the snow came and we had snow until early April. Probably a sign of global warming. About 20 years ago, we had some winters that were very mild and warm, and then we got some winters where the snow came in October. Now the experts are talking about global warming again.

@D0ds0t.... I cannot even grasp what that would be like. A few months without the sun turning up at all and the cold. I tend to like a little bit of cold but this is quite extreme. Hope Mother Nature (Gaea) isn't that harsh for you (and others living in your area) this year.

(plus I wondered, have you ever video-taped or photographed the phenomena of the Northern Light? It looks amazingly beautiful when I see it on the telly)
