You mentioned numbers earlier. I don't really like math, but every since I was a child, I divide numbers into each other when I see them on a digital clock.

For instance: "12:24." 12 goes into 24 twice.

I'll be looking into it when I'm able to afford it, but the only reason I even admit to a self diagnosis at this point was my family, and oldest friends.

When I list traits, the diagnosis criteria, and so forth of AS without listing what I see in myself that fits them. They all immediately rattled off things which I didn't even realize about myself when trying to see if I needed to get diagnosed.

The response tends to follow the pattern of "Oh! *examples they noticed*, man... that makes sense now. Never could figure out why you *baffling thing I do/did* all the time."

Maybe your self-diagnosis is not so bad then ;)

Scientist, your thread is very unique. Most newbies dont get five pages on their "hi Im new" threads, they dont even reach page 2 mostly.
You even managed to get friends by private talkings AND who share your interest!

Wow, you are very lucky! I I like your presence. Whenever I see you post somewhere It gives positive and friendly smiles.
Because thats what you show on your avatar!
I understand you miss to see the face on most of us, but all of us is far from so brave sharing so much of ourselves like you do
Maybe that makes us less "successful"?
Dont worry, Im truly happy for you honestly :)

Hello Scientist, you seem really interesting. Many people are suprised to find out I have AS too. Especially because I tend to excell at public speaking. Your career is interesting I've been considering going to get my PhD in Cognitive Psychology and studying Artificial Intelligence.

@ xalepax: thanks for your friendly words :) I do feel lucky getting this much attention ;)

@ MartyMoose: Thanks for you nice reply! :)
Interesting to hear that you're so good at public speaking. I'm not so good at that; I'm good at explaining and making my well-structured story, but my presentation skills are not so good, because of my Asperger's, I know now.
Cool to hear that you're interested in Cognitive Psychology and AI :)

My problem is that I have a soft voice, and I don't use much intonation and gestures when I'm speaking. I took singing lessons and voice and expression lessons, but they did not really work for me. I sort of gave up on practicing... I know now that it's related to my Asperger's. How did you practice?

Theatre classes speech classes, college competitive speech team, mock trial, debate team, stand up comedy..... I did it all

;) Yeah, I just saw it on WP. I knew people were working on this; I read about it in 2006. Actually I favour organic / biologically produced meat, but I'm not sure if that is really going to work on a global scale. And then I think this is a good idea, since people want to produce a lot of meat anyway, and there's many people in the world to feed, and then this is a much more environmentally friendly and animal friendly method than bioindustry. But I think it will be a difficult job to sell this to the consumers; I'm afraid many consumers won't like the idea. Plus there's still some other challenges; see also: In vitro meat

would like to meet other people who also have autism, who may be a bit like me, that's why I registered here at WrongPlanet. I've been reading around a bit and I think I like the atmosphere here.

ditto

Well, problem solved for you that is, not for the world
I've been veggie too for some periods in my life and I've had periods that I only ate organic meat and periods that I only ate meat some days and vegetarian food the rest of the days. Maybe I'll keep changing my meat-eating habits ;)
