The Dino-Aspie Ex-Café (for Those 40+... or feeling creaky)
Thanks for the concern Blessedmom.I hope that didnt sound like a lecture, lol.I have thought this out and just wanted to share my "reasoning".I am having the BF keep an eye on me(when ever he isn't on the internet, plunking his guitar, watching the news).Actually he probably wont notice until I come home with 10 cats from the shelter or start wearing make-up and high-heels.Then I am sure he will rush me to the ER.
Have fun at work(that is possible, right?)

Shiva H. Vishnu! I'll stop complaining about the rain now.
This sounds like just the issue that could be addressed by the co-operative/credit union movement. I don't know how widespread that philosophy is in the USA, though.

It is sad, isn't it.
I do have to say something about this article, though. I paid more than 80% {yes, eighty} of my income for housing for many, many years, and more than 60% until just very recently.
That being said, one would hope that someone, some nonprofit, could be set up to temporarily shelter people who have no family to go to when they get out of the service. If for no other length of time than to get them some kind of training that would allow them to be self-supporting. And for those who have, or who develop, mental or physical health issues... what to do? Once upon a time there were retirement homes for soldiers, around the turn of the 1900s, for the injured. Why are they gone now? Down the same road they've gone for anyone with those issues. Just gone....
Yeah the crazy thing is they make up a small percent of the population, but a large share of the homeless. The crap doesn't hit till later and it is almost impossible for the new guys not on my GI bill to get even a small amount of what I'm suppose to get. They have taken away and take away more every year from what they promised, we didn't ask for it, it was in the contract and someone is backing out of the deal and it isn't me. Who could that possibly leave? Call your damn congress people!! Email them, it's easy. Make them at least stick to what was on the dotted line when they signed. Here's one that hasn't even shown it's ugly face in the news. If someone smokes a joint or some such stupid thing, they kick them out one, that's right 1, make that a ONE!! !! ! day before they could get benefits. They did it to my step son and he got the Army Commendation medal on his own time for taking better care of the f****n Nukes in Korea. They still use his system, but they booted him one day before he could even get the money he put in from his pay for school. He won't fight it, but by god I know damn well they do it to others too. That little medal isn't easy to get, my first cousin got one as well, but he's a lifer, made soldiar of the year. Well, he didn't mean to a lifer, but they won't let him out. I have another cousin that got one too, but I can't tell you much other then he was NSA and busted a Russian thing (I have to leave it vague, other then it has to do with eyes in the sky). They f**k you over ever chance they get. We didn't call it the green weenie for nuthin.

Because in a war, the real truth comes out. The only, the f*****g only, reason for a military is killing. They will white wash it ten ways to hell, but once you're in, you're part of a killing machine and that goes for people that never leave a desk. I have a hard time living with myself with that little piece of knowledge.

Okay, I should probably be in bed. I'm so tired my eyes are burning and everything is silly. Just one more load of laundry and a few more rows on my project.
I work the dayhome tomorrow and go to my other job in the evening. I'm not sure how I am going to manage December when I have 5 dayhome kids and more hours at the store for Christmas. Ah well, at least I have the whole weekend off for a change.
Chuck, Nan says you need a mop. Would this work?

The Riddle
The Riddle lyrics
There was a man back in '95
Whose heart ran out of summers
But before he died, I asked him
Wait, what's the sense in life
Come over me, Come over me
He said,
Son why you got to sing that tune
Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon
Let an angel swing and make you swoon
Then you will see... You will see
Then he said,
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...
Picked up my kid from school today
Did you learn anything cause in the world today
You can't live in a castle far away
Now talk to me, come talk to me
He said,
Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small
In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all
Still every mother's child sings a lonely song
So play with me, come play with me
And Hey Dad
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...
I said,
Son for all I've told you
When you get right down to the
Reason for the world...
Who am I?
There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see
He said... You looking for a clue I Love You free...
The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on while the moon is high over me
Something comes over me
I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man you know we got it all
Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball
And I love you free
I love you freely
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...

Sweet dreams Nan.You will have the dreams of the victorius.(I hear they are rather nice
)
Very cool mop Blessed.Animals dont need fancy toys.....just lots of patience and an "owner" with a sense of humor.
I think there are others here interested in "herbs and such"....found this guy on-line that I though was pretty funny(a little new age sappy is OK,it's just when they take it to serious I get "culty nervious vibes".)
http://herbcraft.org/whatsnew.html
Anyway,he seems pretty real and had an interesting recipe for fibroid tumors I will check out(when I have access to fresh plants next "thaw"...only 8 months and counting
He highly recommended Burdock and Mullien.....they grow like weeds(haha).I plan on collecting some and makin me some "concoctions"....I've been interested in this stuff for years but never done more then nibble on some plants. That was all before the I knew about the internet....this should be interesting.

Ha!
Woke up last night at 2:00am - noticed a lot of noise going on. Figured it must be the heating unit I "repaired". Went into the attic and shut it off. The noise continued. I went downstairs to find that the washing machine's hot water hose had burst. Shut that off. The noise continued. Wandered into the downstairs bathroom to discover that the toilet tank's water regulator top on the fill valve had broken and was spewing water as well. (Thank goodness I was home!) Have spent the rest of the morning removing water from the laundry room, hallway, kitchen, bathroom, living room, and downstairs bedroom. Have fans set up everywhere. Once the walls, carpet and floors dry out, looks like I'll be re-painting.
(water coming out of the electrical outlets is probably not a good thing, eh?
so, Chuck? Sorry to hear you got flooded! You helped me out when I got flooded. And when you are in the roar of the fans, think of your sister when she was flooded and just close your eyes and go with the roar of the fans and think nice thoughts.
It eventually gets over.

I'm still alive
Must have been a miracle
It's been a hell of ride
Destination still unknown
It's a fact of life:
If you make one wrong move with a gun to your head
You better walk the line or you'll be left for dead
I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back this time
That's right
I got away with it all and I'm still alive
Let the end of the world come tumbling down
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
As long as hot blood runs through my veins
I'm still alive
Lost in the night
Feeling so invisible
Oh, a dead man walking the wire
High above the devil's net
That's made of fire
And it's a long way down from the top of the world
You better look around or you're gonna get burned
I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back this time
That's right
I got away with it all and I'm still alive
Let the end of the world come tumbling down
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
And as the dust clears, look in my eyes:
I'm still alive
I'm still alive
The darkest night ain't black enough
To keep the morning light from shining
The highest wall ain't tall enough
To keep the smallest man from climbing
The more that you resist the tide
The more it pulls you in
The more you hang on for your life
(I'm a runaway train on a broken track)
(I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back this time)
(that's right)
That's right
I got away with it all and I'm still alive
I'm a runaway train on a broken track
I'm the ticker on the bomb that you can't turn back this time
That's right
I got away with it all and I'm still alive
Let the end of the world come tumbling down
I'll be the last man standing on the ground
And if my shadow's all that survives
I'm still alive
I'm still alive...

I am speechless, as well. In the States, if you are below a certain age and you 'run away' from your parents whom ever shelters you with out turning you in is held legally responsible and can be prosecuted.
