The Dino-Aspie Ex-Café (for Those 40+... or feeling creaky)
From what I hear, the Ozzy Osbourne version would be "facing your head and doing it in". He's a great role muddle. It's all those bats, you know.
I'm afraid once it's known that you've done a good deed, the choice is out of your hands. We shall follow the Wisdom of Nan, at least until such time a greater sage comes along and tells us the secret of how to tell right from left socks. I already took care of identifying the feet. I had "Right" and "Left" tattooed on, and also "This side up". My Teacher said I worked off a great deal of karmic debt by finding this solution to a common problem and so reducing the mental anguish of the chirally challenged, like myself. But the socks continue to defeat me, despite long meditation and intensive study.
But perhaps I need look no further. Can you help, O Master Nan?

Isn't it interesting that if you called her Mistress Nan it would change the whole dynamic?

Why am I now thinking of "The Life of Brian"???
Go barefoot.
And put $100 in small, unmarked bills in an envelope and send to
Nan, Master of the Universe
12345 Camino del SlidingCasas
San Diego, CA 92XXX
with your return address and then I'll send you an anointed prayer cloth that will solve all your financial woes....

ETA: I've just been browsing the forums, and... THIS. Beyond generous. I'm speechless.
I am speechless, as well. In the States, if you are below a certain age and you 'run away' from your parents whom ever shelters you with out turning you in is held legally responsible and can be prosecuted.

I wonder how long the offer would actually last once the novelty wore off?

Go barefoot.
I hear and am enlightened, in my limited way, O Wisdom of the Ages.
Hmmm. I must consult the scrolls.
I have a quest! Either technologically enhanced battle socks or a medal. I shall earn one or the other.
Chuck will provide. He's got fridges full of bats, but only parts of ponies. I don't think you could stitch together a whole one. But he had his Igor make a dog.
If you give him the missing pony pieces, I am sure he can arrange something.

I'm making progress, but its the kind of progress that looks like one huge mess.
Had to get a new central heat and air unit - couldn't find parts for my old one. But that's one thing done. Everything is drying out due to the nice weather that moved in. Got fans blowing into the crawl space. Tore out the damaged drywall in three rooms. Re-insulated the walls, and hung new drywall today.
Lost the artwork I made for Christmas presents, and lots of sketchbooks, and notes, but have lots more art inside my head - so no real loss there. I didn't have any furniture downstairs except my table. I live minimalist - just have a bed, table, drawing board, easel, and massage table - and except for the table they were upstairs, so no loss there. Made the clean-up much easier than it would have been otherwise.
Can't complain. At least I'm off this week to get the job done. Will tape and mud the drywall joints tomorrow, put down primer if everything dries fast enough, and be ready to paint on Sunday. At least the floors weren't ruined.
Lauri suggested moving. What?!? And miss all this?!?
Crazy girl! What good is homeownership if you don't have to fight off swarms of locusts, pull drunk driver-driven vehicles out of your living room, ward off meteor strikes, and other "acts of God" not covered by your homeowner's insurance? I figure once I've fixed everything, the earth will swallow the whole house. Then, by Jiminy, I'll move. But not 'til then. I'm going down with the ship! ARRRRHHH!
Thanks for the words of encouragement all! I'm going to bed, if I can find it in the rubble... (my place is looking more and more like the physical embodiment of the Dino-Aspie Ex-Cafe'.

Sir Jello is still among the living?I thought he had passed to the great beyond.DK was one of the first punk bands I ever heard.I thought his voice anoying but loved the humor and politics of the lyrics(plus the DK was an easy thing to graffetti on my jeans).
For those into "natural products" and such...found a nice soap/tooth paste site.I am going to order some "tooth chips" as I have been trying to avoid flouride......

I also found an interesting site to sell home made items that I am thinking about joining(ebay seems to complicated to me). This place charges 20.cents an item(to list on your free Etsy.com shop site)and 3.7% on anything you sell. That seems reasonable to me and they do seem to be selling.......

Dont know if there are other crafters here(other then blessedmom)but it is also a nice place to order unique Christmas gifts and support "home crafters".If I ever follow through with getting a site,I will post a link.
Hope your all surviving the day.I have a vacation day tonight,so it will be a two day work week for me(yeah)

I dont think there is anything wrong with lurking.Sometime I just dont feel verbal but coming here to read everyones comments makes me feel "attached" to the community in a way I never did before the internet.back in the "bad old days" when I couldnt talk to people in RL,I would feel much more depressed and alone. This community allows me to feel connected and still allows me to "isolate" when I can't be verbal. What more could an aspie ask for from a community.
WP is also the only community where people dont completely ignore or get so mad at my "me"ness, that I am scared to read the responses(cause I know I have pissed some one off).So lurk away....some of us need to speak and some of us need people to listen...so your presence provides just as valuable a "service" to creating a community(IMO)
Merle....LSD was also my drug of choice...the only drug I did,not to escape but to awake. My first time taking it,I was told to respect it and that it was meant to be a "spiritual jourey"so that was always my mind set when taking it.Until I started taking it while hanging out with the "punks"....acid and punk music and drunks do not mix well. Those were my only bad trips and they were scary.I thought it was strange how each "batch" seemed to provide a different visual or "theme" trip.I recall one time when I was watching a movie of the renessance projected onto a brick wall. The only "projector" was my brain projecting out my "eyes"...it was very interesting(but a silent film)
My favorite escape drug was Dextromethamorphin(sp?)the active ingredient in Robotussien with DM.I never did a speed ball but I think it had the same effect of making you relaxed but physically energized...weird combo.
